If you are looking for an overnight stop to make a ferry connection this is an easy choice. Yes it's dated but that's part of its charm. The price reflects it's age but you can't beat it's proximity to the ferry. We stayed here instead of Glasgow to save time driving to the connection and had a great dinner and... More

Was at North West Castle for a wedding recently and was very disappointed with the hotel. Not only are the rooms all old fashioned and dull, the walls were full of damp. Staircase was dirty on way up to bedrooms. Not only that but drink prices are so expensive and it is hardly fair to say you are paying for... More

My Mum and I visited the North West Castle Hotel for a two night break away and were very disappointed with the standard of the hotel. Walking in to the hotel feels like you're stepping back into the 1960/70's. The decor is very dated and old fashioned. Overall the hotel is run down and needs a lot of money spent... More

We stayed here on a 3 day golf break and whilst the deal was very good value, I have to say, the hotel has long since passed it's best. I agree with many reviewers when they say that the fusty smell hits you as soon as you enter and it was so bad it almost choked you in the corridor... More

Did not stay here but stopped for food and had a great time. The food was fantastic and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Were given a history of the hotel and shown the curling rink. Couldn't ask for a nicer welcome.

I would recommend this hotel. We received a very warm welcome. Our room was very spacious with a sitting area with quality, comfortable furnishings. The bathroom was a good size with modern suite. The room was very clean. Food was excellent in a beautiful dining room with very friendly staff. i will definately stay here again when in the area.... More

Stayed here for a weekend visiting friends in Stranraer. Lovely facade as you drive up to the hotel, and lovely reception and dining room. Check in was friendly and when we got to our rooms pleasantly surprised! Large, clean and with lovely little sitting area aswell. The bathroom was clean and the shower fantastic!! The bedroom itself was dated but... More

This hotel was booked for us by our daughter as a surprise overnight stay en route to Ireland. This saved us from making an early morning drive to catch the ferry from Cairnryan which ,conveniently, is no more than a 10 minute drive from the hotel. The hotel itself is a touch oldy worldy but is very comfortable and the staff very... The 1970 rooms let this lovely hotel down. I have stayed in luxurious rooms and not paid as much. Needs revamped and brought into 2014. No duvets??!! Old worn furniture, original hairdryer and trouser press etc. I thought I was in a time warp! Very overpriced

I now there are people who are not bothered by this but here goes The room I stayed in gad cobwebs with spiders dangling. The windows were the old type that you pull down to close which kept banging in the night leading to an awful nights rest. Every corner of the room had dust. The mirrors were not cleaned.... More
