If you are travelling on the Stranraer ferry, the location is great, right opposite the terminal. However, the convenience of the hotel is no justification for the high price. We had driven from the Midlands and thought we would be staying somewhere really good for the price we were paying, but we were sorely disappointed. The hotel has delusions of... more

Just returned from a lovely 2 night stay . We have stayed before, and it was a welcome return. This is a real nice hotel. Ok, its not got all the flash frills but it has wonderfull food in a lovely dining room, comfortable, clean bedrooms and good hospitality from all the staff in the hotel. The leisure facilities are... more

Stayed here one night but had to check out the following day due to the shabby state of the hotel and the damp smell that hits you as soon as you walk in the front door. Everything about the hotel is tired and has a broken down feel to it. This has to be one of the the worst hotels... more

Stayed 3 nights as part of a group. Very impressed with the standard of the food and service in the restaurant. The staff could not have been more helpful. Very clean and well run. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. more

We have just returned from the most amazing Christmas break at North West Castle. We were giving a greeting set for kings from the manager, Jodie, and the head porter, Ronnie on arrival. The receptionists were very efficient and capable. They had lovely warm smiles. As we were a family, each room was sufficient for our needs. Comfortable beds with... more

We had a lovely weekend in the North West Castle. The rooms were huge and well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. As it was very wet on the Saturday, we spent some time in the games room, playing carpet bowls and table tennis. There was also snooker and pool tables. We also had a swim in the pool.... more

Stayed here as we were late coming from Belfast on the efrry. Deceptively comfortable. Very comfortable room, though better room for the money as we were late arriving. Good breakfast and staff very welcoming. more

This is a hotel that obviously had its hey day in the 1960s and 70s, but has managed to stay reasonably fresh and up to date. The one thing it has retained is a good standard of customer care and service, so often missing nowadays in more modern hotels. I believe that this was the first hotel adventure for the... more

We have stayed here frequently because of its proximity to the Stena Line Belfast ferry. Friendly service and always excellent food (and wine list). Rooms spacious but decor a little dated. Pool an added bonus at the end of a long day's driving . . . more
