We decided to take a 3 day break before a busy working summer season and booked this well recommended (by friends) hotel for a 3 night stay to re-charge the batteries. Food was supposed to be excellent and seafood based in a beautiful area. Arrived at 8.50 pm just in time for a meal which was defintely not 2005 seafood... more

Having read some of the comments from previous reviews I must say I was a little bit apprehensive prior to my visit. I along with 3 friends checked into the Crown on a Sunday evening having been travelling since 5:30am that morning catching the ferry and playing 18 holes of golf in the interim. We were greeted warmly and promptly... more

Just returned yesterday from a three night stay. Food was wonderful. Same could not be said about the room. We had the best room in the house, so we were told. Room 12. Fab sea views but the decor was dire. The bathroom was just awful. The bed was like a brick. However, the room was nice and cozy. Breakfast... more

Booked this hotel because we had eaten there several times before and the food was always very good. We booked a front facing bedroom with views over the harbour, the view was certainly lovely and for all that the hotel is on the roadside it was very quiet. The bedroom unfortunately was certainly not up to the standard you would... more

I have been staying at the Crown for about 10 years now. We usually go sometime over the Christmas period. I was disconcerted to read some of the negative reviews on this site, particularly about the food which has always been excellent, however, I needn't have worried as all was in order! Lets get some things straight - the rooms... more

We stayed at the Crown on the 3 x night DBB rate which we thought was very competitive. Our room was very tired with a leaking tap in the bath. Breakfast was well cooked and the waitress very pleasant. However we found the evening meals a chore. Some of the staff in the evening were very unhelpfull. We struggled to... more

On my first trip Scotland I must say I thoroughy enjoyed it. I was taken there for my birthday and had a super time. The meal in the restaurant was lovely and I can highly recommend the seafood platter! The sea view room we had was lovely as we could see the superb views of Ireland. My husband was impressed... more

Stayed here for 3 nights May 2007. Good value for B&B 3 nights for 2. Hotel really the local pub. Rooms very out of date. Damp and mold patches in our room. Leaking roof being repaired during our stay. Breakfast very good, but hotel is still advertising seafood pub of the year 2005, there has obviously been a change in... more
