Although we have not stayed at the hotel as we have a caravan close by we have dined there on several occasions. The fantastic view over the harbour of Portpatrick is worth the walk up the hill and the experience is enhanced by quality of the food and the service. Top of the hill. Top class retaurant.

We have just spent a really lovely short break, special deal, in the Fernhill hotel - a wonderful location, spacious, comfortable room, delicious food and delightful staff ! This Hotel is situated in the lovely little village of Portpatrick and the views of the harbour from the Hotel are truly marvellous.

Just spent five nights at the Fernhill Hotel, Portpatrick and had a wonderful stay. Portpatrick is so pretty and this hotel takes full advantage, being on the hill above the harbour and with wonderful views from front facing bedrooms and all public rooms. The room was elegant and comfortable, the staff are delightful, but the piece de resistance is the... More

We stayed at the Fernhill Hotel having found it on the interweb and consulted Trip Advisor. We stayed on a DBB package for 3 nights for the cost of 2 which meant that for a sensible price we had the best room in the hotel (room 15 for anyone who needs to know). The staff are all welcoming (including sherry... More

The hotel has three great strengths: (i) the food; (ii) the staff; and (iii) the view. There must be a top-quality chef in the kitchen to consistently turn out such delicious well-presented fare (although sadly let down by the coffee which was rarely hot enough either at dinner or at breakfast. Individual cafetières would add an inexpensive embellishment to what... More

Have stayed at Fernhill on numerous occasions over the years and it still is as good as ever. The hotel looks over the picturesque village and harbour at Portpatrick with panoramic views to the Irsh Sea beyond. Car parking is adequate in an attractive garden area. National gardens of significance are to be found close by at Logan Botanic, Dunskey... More

We stayed one night at the Fernhill in Portpatrick. On entry we were knocked out by the view over the harbour. The lady in reception was very welcoming, with a glass of sherry and upgraded us from Standard to superior room (overlooking harbour) The room was spacious and clean. Only problem for me was the bed was soft. The standard... More

We found the Fernhill during a previous visit to Port Patrick and decided to treat ourselves to a long weekend break. Our stay was excellent from start to finish. We were offered a glass of sherry on arrival and also assistance with our luggage. My husband is very interested in the history of where we stay and Carolyn had sorted... More

The Fernhill is quite expensive for what it is but better rates are available for online booking. However, be aware that when booking online there is no option to select twin or double room, only twin/double. The 'welcome glass of sherry' seems to be offered to some guests and not others, we weren't offered and wondered why? The seaview rooms... More

We regularly spend a couple of nights at the Fernhill and are never disappointed. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is very good indeed. The rooms are traditional and very clean. The hotel is family run and makes no attempt to be a boutique or high fashion statement. The food is traditional but with modern twists and... More
