Just spent two nights at the Fernhill Hotel. Fantastic setting overlooking the harbour, rooms large , very clean and with superb views. The restaurant was very good and the staff efficient. The town itself is within a five minute walk and has good pubs and restaurants. The only downsize was the price, despite all the above you really are paying... more

Second time staying at Hotel, this time with our teenage daughter. Hotel kindly sorted out adjacent rooms for us. Had rooms with balcony's overlooking the port, and as the weather was fantastic, it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Everywhere spotlessly clean, and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Room rate for DB&B (£94)was excellent. Food in restaurant was superb... more

Have just returned from spending two nights in the Fernhill hotel . We had the winter rates for dinner, bed and breakfast(now finished). We were very lucky with the weather, dry and sunny. We were upgraded to a sea view room as we had a voucher(Xmas present). The view from the room was fabulous. The staff in the hotel were... more

This is a good hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful and the whole hotel is in excellent decorative order. The restaurant is above average with a good selection of dishes on the table d'hote menu. [My wife declared her steak to be perfect!]. We decided to book one of their luxury rooms for the two nights we stayed, and the... more

Spent a most enjoyable three days on dinner, bed and breakfast. We were looking to explore this neglected corner of Scotland and to have a relaxing break. The Fernhill is ideal for these aims and for golfers, anglers, twitchers, walkers etc. Most impressed by the happy atmosphere and the friendly staff. Not cheap, but well worth a visit. more

We stayed at The Fernhill this week and it was absolutely lovely. The staff are very welcoming and efficient and make time to chat and exchange pleasantries. We took our dog with us and were given a balcony room (as requested) with stunning views over the harbour and the Irish coast. The food was very good and the service excellent.... more

The hotel has great views of the village, the harbour and out across the Irish sea to Ireland. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The bedroom was a bit OTT on the fabrics and furniture, a little more thought would have been nice as to what travellers want (luggage rack for example) rather than to cram it full of... more
