The bar and little sitting room had a lovely real open fire and was cosy, but the radiator was off in the dining room and the open fire not lit. This was a cold, grey windy rainy day so it was pretty desolate. We were the only diners and it was beautifully silent except for the whirr of the fan heater... More

Feel like gentry, be treated like gentry, in a gorgeous setting by the sea. I tried to write a review before this place was listed, because I wanted to make sure others knew what a special place it is. Off the beaten path, historic, great food. The room we stayed in was previously occupied (a while back ) by Churchill... More

Spent a night in South and West to celebrate our 60th birthdays with the family. Beautiful location, comfortable relaxed feel atmosphere about the hotel. Lucky to have glorious weather to enjoy sitting down at the beach. On the whole the service was excellent, but the man who greeted us on arrival was a bit downbeat and omitted to tell us... More

We have just returned from this Hunting Lodge set in an isolated cove with tremendous views. The hotel is very well maintained and is blessed with charming efficient staff. Our room was delightful, and provided all that was needed. The food is outstanding, top notch ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented. After consuming 5/6 courses we never felt too full, a compliment... More

We loved this hotel. We drove from the Glasgow airport after an overnight flight from Philadelphia. As we approached the hotel and saw the water and the open spaces, we knew that we had made the right choice. We stayed in the Whin room, a lovely suite with a great view of the water. The bathroom is very old fashioned... More

I had a long drive and needed a place to stay close to the ferry terminal, so made a reservation at Knockinaam Lodge not realizing quite what I had booked, what a brilliant surprise. I had arrived later than I had initially thought but was made to feel instantly welcome, my room was very comfortable and well appointed. Dinner was... More

We have been guests at Knockinaam Lodge about ten times over the last nine years. We have never been disappointed with our stay. On every occasion the service, hospitality, accommodation and food has been delightful, equally if not more enjoyable than establishments with higher accreditation. At dinner there is no choice with regard to menu options as the hotel presents... More

I spent a night with my girlfriend there. The main reason for me choosing the place was the restaurant, and I was NOT DISAPPOINTED. It was delicious, great rooms. When making the reservation, you are asked whether you have any allergies or food which you do not like; do tell them what you like and dislike. The chef will make... More

This hotel is in a stunning location just south of Port Patrick along the ocean. It has its own little beach and is totally isolated between two rock outcroppings. One can hike the shoreline right from the lodge though it rained incessantly when we were there. The hotel itself is fairly cramped (some might say cozy). Our room was a... More

We came here to round off a week holidaying in the Highlands and it didn't disappoint. The house and grounds are beautiful with great coastal walk from the hotel. Private beach for swimming and fab views to Ireland. But best of all were the dinners. Last night's highlights were slow cooked beef - essentially Chateaubriand - melt in mouth, asparagus... More
