Back again! It's been over. a year since our last visit , far too long. The food and service are first class and sitting in the Lounge with a log fire burning in the grate makes me wish that tomorrow and our journey home could be postponed. Well done for consistently keeping the standards high.

My wife and I have stayed in the Knockinaam Lodge on 5 occasions over the past four years. It is, quite simply, fabulous. We intend to stay for two nights every October because it simply can't be beaten on location, quality of food and the friendly and approachable staff. Rooms are lovely but personally I would avoid the two 'attic'... More

We recently stayed at Knockinaam for the first time & its an amazing place. The food was fantastic, especially the beef, the service excellent, attentive but not intrusive, and the hotel & surroundings simply stunning. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived a very polite young man met us at our car & carried our bags... More

We had dinner in Knockinaam last week, as we have done many times over the years. It is a special place with log fires, excellent food, & superb location. Our meal was first class, albeit expensive at £65 pp before drinks ( which are also expensive). However, the experience is worth it, in my opinion. Nevertheless, I have not given... More

We went to Knockinaam Lodge for lunch on my birthday. My family have all eaten here before and both the setting and the meal were as ever superlative. My parents had arranged our meal some while before we visited as there were a couple of special dietary requirements which the Chef handled really thoughtfully. The lunch was delicious and seasonal... More

The initial attraction is the Michelin Star restaurant (very deserving of its Star). The easy option is to stay over - a few miles from Portpatrick on the Galloway coast. Service is highly attentive but in a very professional way - staff come out to the car to assist with luggage / help to your room / know exactly who... More

Just had a wonderful stay at hotel. Our room was nice and the general ambience of hotel is nice with great residents lounges. Our reason for choosing the hotel was for the food. We had a superb meal and good wine. I'd really recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a special break. For somewhere with a Michelin star it... More

The bar and little sitting room had a lovely real open fire and was cosy, but the radiator was off in the dining room and the open fire not lit. This was a cold, grey windy rainy day so it was pretty desolate. We were the only diners and it was beautifully silent except for the whirr of the fan heater... More

Feel like gentry, be treated like gentry, in a gorgeous setting by the sea. I tried to write a review before this place was listed, because I wanted to make sure others knew what a special place it is. Off the beaten path, historic, great food. The room we stayed in was previously occupied (a while back ) by Churchill... More

Spent a night in South and West to celebrate our 60th birthdays with the family. Beautiful location, comfortable relaxed feel atmosphere about the hotel. Lucky to have glorious weather to enjoy sitting down at the beach. On the whole the service was excellent, but the man who greeted us on arrival was a bit downbeat and omitted to tell us... More
