admittedly my stays here are not of this year, but reports from reliable colleagues show it to be still of an unbelievably high standard,. a brief potted history, as a former hunting lodge, secluded, away from prying eyes, it was used by winston churchill, anthony eden et al during ww2 for powpows..later on owned by a member of the pilkington family, it... we got married here last week. the hotel arranged everything for us. the staff were amazing. there is no denying that the hotel is pricey - coke £2.75 ! however, the attention to the little things, the attentiveness of the staff. the comradeship between the guests. you will return once you have been. no matter what the cost. finally, i... Attention to every detail......one of the best places that we have ever stayed in. It is expensive but worth every penny.....we were blessed with perfect weather making afternoon tea by the seashore and after dinner coffee in the same place very memorable. All the staff were superlative....thank you.

We recently had the pleasure of holding our daughter's wedding reception here and I cannot sing the praises of this fantastic venue loudly enough. Attention to every minor detail was impeccable and the owners and staff must receive the highest accolades for efficiency, discretion and professionalism. The food was tasty, plentiful and fully deserving of its high rating especially when... More

I have profited from TripAdvisor reviews for years but this is the first time I have felt compelled to write my own. In fact, it would have been a real injustice had I not left a review about Knockinaam Lodge as it was the best holiday we have ever had. Everything was just perfect: location, facilities, comfort, atmosphere, service and,... More

We had the benefit of staying in two rooms as our first choice was booked out on the second night and both were fantastic:one was a suite with sea views; the other had an enormous bathroom with pond views. The house and surroundings were perfect for a romantic weekend away and the food was the best we have had anywhere... More

Spent 4 nights at this wonderful country hotel which sits on the beach looking across the sea to Ireland. This hotel has everything-wonderful position, lovely garden, and a private beach totally secluded. If all this does not send you into raptures then the food surely will.Head chef Tony Pierce,20 years a Michelin star,is an understated genius.Hotel and restaurant service was exemplary, polite and attentive but... Went to Knockinaam Lodge for 2 nights, cannot fault service, accommodation, food or staff. It is very pricey, but you are paying for luxury rooms and excellent food. No tea making facilities in the room, this is not ideal although you can have tea/coffee in the drawing room. It is noticable that only people who can afford it go here... More

One of the benefits of being retired is that we can take advantage of the weather forecasts and head out when the sun is going to shine. So we returned for our second visit at the beginning of March. The drive up to the Rhins of Galloway was lovely and driving down to the hotel was as magical as I... More

Wonderful country house style hotel with excellent Michelin starred restaurant. Well tucked away down single track road; just keep going west and stop before you hit the sea. Friendly staff and very welcoming with tea and shortbread by a cosy fire on a stormy winter day on arrival. Room was good with big bathroom and magnificent sea views though as... More

Today, a warm welcome is assured from the proprietors and their committed team, and much emphasis is placed on providing a sophisticated but intimate home-from-home experience.
