I first visited the Clonyard in 2000 as part of an organised motorcycle group that used it as a base for touring. I have been back many times since with the wife for 2 or 3 night stays. As some people have said it was starting to get 'tired' but we always found the service and food to be excellent.... More

Three friends and I had dinner at this Country House Hotel. The lady owner was friendly, the dinning room nice and warm and the food was very excellent. Three plates were cleared and mine would have been had I been a lover of red cabbage and carrots! My friends just had room for what looked to be very tasty deserts... More

Stayed at the clonyard on the 16th and 17th of January. The food was excellent and great value for money. The rooms are clean and are getting updated in the up coming months. The staff were freindly and welcoming! The breakfast was out standing and in reply to the previous comment the ceral was not stale!!! It was excellent, lovely... More

Faulty Towers eat your heart out, you have been replaced by the worst hotel I have ever found! We had the unfortunate experience of having to stay and eat in this establishment not once but twice during December 2014. The rooms are disgraceful either far to hot or smelling of dogs! the bathrooms are appalling, the towels had not been... More

We have stayed at the hotel before when visiting the area (which is absolutely beautiful) as they accept dogs. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area. We ate in the bar / restaurant every night and the food was excellent quality. Breakfasts too were excellent with a wide choice The rooms were clean and tidy but would benefit from... More

Stay here for when I'm working around the area and the staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The bar/restaurant is very cosy and the food and choices are really good. It's in a nice peaceful and scenic area.

Went for family meal, found service and food very disappointing. Despite booking a table the lady which seated us made you feel guilty for being there as they were a waitress down. Asked to see the wine list to be told there wasn't one as they were in between suppliers. Asked for an Australian Chardonnay to be presented with an... More

It was good to see that a programme of improvements is taking place, and the hotel is closing for a time on 4/11 ( ?) for further work. The basic layout is unusual in that 16 of the bedrooms are on one side of a long corridor leading from the main house, ( my room 16 was 75 paces away).... More

I stayed at the Clonyard from Monday to Friday on a course. The owners have very recently taken over & were caught on the hop with a number of issues but dealt with everything in an efficient, good natured fashion. Yes, the breakfast staff could do with a bit of training re. spotting what's needed, yes the ground floor rooms... More
