We have stayed here twice before but this was our first visit since the ownership changed and the rooms were refurbished. Once again we were in one of the garden rooms in the extension where there are french windows giving access to the car-park. The food, as previously, was of a high standard, particularly the (wild) salmon and haddock. Many... More

We have a caravan in the area and have passed by many times saying "we must have a meal there sometime". This time we did stop for lunch which was really good and then returned the following evening for dinner. The food is lovely and great value for money, the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and... More

We were staying in our caravan nearby and our son-in-law and 2 granddaughters joined us overnight so we decided to treat ourselves to an evening meal.It was the recent bankholiday weekend and was very busy (which we took to be a good sign) We were not disappointed, the meals we chose we all excellent. They were nicely presented and lovely and hot... I've been going to The Clonyard for 15 years. I wrote a review about a visit in February and the new ownership. I spent another 3 nights here again on a business/[leisure trip and was very impressed with the upgrades. The owners are retaining the character of the hotel, but are modernising and continuing to update. The room was great,... More

For the first time in nine years in this area, we had a meal in the restaurant just up the road from where we were staying at Barend, We all had a starter which was very nice and ample. Our main courses were all different. The lamb was tender and tasty, the chicken with haggis and whiskey was very different... More

I organised a trip for 6 fellow walkers staying in this excellent hotel just outside Dalbeattie. The rooms were everything we required, staff were friendly and efficient, food was remarkable in terms of quality and choice and the whole experience at this warm and comfortable hotel was both great value for money and exceeded our collective expectations. It is ideally... More

We make sure we have regular stays at The Clonyard, as it's just the best place to go to relax and unwind. The atmosphere is typically Scottish: warm & welcoming, the food is fantastic and the setting is wonderful. We were there for New Year, Valentines Weekend and we are going back again for the forthcoming Spring Bank Holiday. We... More

We arrived after 2 and they had stopped serving food at 2 but the ?owner checked if the chef was still available. One chef was there and we got homemade soup and a fabulous selection of sandwiches - all delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff were excellent and a lovely place. Highly recommended!!
