The Hotel is set in a stunning location, however that is where the positives stop. The Hotel is very overpriced, the room we stopped in was built in the 1970's and has not seen any painting upgrade since then. The staff overall were friendly except for the male manager/owner who was very rude when we were checking out. The food... more

We stayed at Baron's Craig Hotel in May 2008. I recognise nothing in the glowing descriptions of a wonderful hotel with wonderful food in one of Tripadvisor's reviews. Baron's Craig is an over-priced dump - don't believe that your experience will be anything like what it says on its website. The review of 25 May broadly reflects our experience. The... more

The Baron's Craig hotel in Rockcliffe has an elevated postion in pleasant grounds above the village with a superb outlook across woodland and seashore. The £100 per night double room that we stayed in bore no resemblance to the same priced rooms shown in photographs on the website. We were in an absolutely awful extension wing built in the early... more

A stunning retreat in a wonderful (undiscovered for me) part of Scotland but within easy distance of the motorway network. The views from our bedroom window were wonderful. Our room was in the old part of the hotel and came complete with a huge bed and antique furniture. Had a look at some of the other rooms with 4 poster... more

We stayed at this hotel for our wedding, we were somewhat disappointed with the service (to say the least). I have waited nearly a year to see if my feelings for the place would change prior to leaving this review. Where do i start... The rooms - nice decor/ old fashioned if you like that kinda thing. However the wall... more

For a surprise my husband booked us a room at the Baron's Craig for my birthday. Having viewed the website we were very excited to see the rooms and public areas not to mention the views so imagine our disappointment to be shown to a room in the extension which was clearly built in the 60's and hasn't had much... more

We were part of a wedding group which had booked in for 2 nights. After the distance some of our group had travelled we were looking forward to settling down for a drink and a chat with old and new friends. All was going well until the bar closed without warning at 11.00pm, we were all disappointed. Some of the... more

The hotel is set in somewhat amazing grounds, and if we return it will be for that alone! We had a great walk around the grounds and village the morning of my cousins wedding. We had our children with us and they loved it. The rooms we were in was just like a holiday inn or something similar, not the... more

Hotel seems to be run with minimal staff, they seem to work very long hours. The hotel itself has great grounds, and certainly what was required after a long weeks work. It is based in Rockcliffe which is a fantastic wee village with a lot going for it with regards to views and walks. Entering the hotel we were surprised... more
