The welcome was fine but the room size was shocking. Basically a single room size but with 2 beds 'shoehorned' in. Breakfast was pre ordered the night before but is very meagre and basic. Cannot recommend this guest house and suggest walkers on the West Highland Way look at alternative more suitable stopovers!.

This b&b provides everything that you need. I was received with a warm welcome, though paying in advance was a bit strange. They did NOT give me the feeling they were after my money. There were NO hard rules, just a kind reminder to keep the floor clean by not bringing in wet shoes or boots. The place is clean,... More

How I wish we had consulted Trip Adviser before we booked this place. However, we were a group of 7 and this place offered us the opportunity of staying in one place. Like others commenting here we were walking the West Highland Way and had done a long day's walk before arriving at this B&B. I would say that the... More

Walking the West Highland Way....7 nights, and booked what we thought were the best, comfiest, warmest, most practical places to rest our weary bones and we were happy to pay whatever. This did not come up to standard at all. The main attraction was a drying room for wet boots etc - no mention on arriving when he took us... More

I'd agree with the sentiment of the previous reviews. I arrived without a booking, and there was only one twin room left. I asked about a reduced rate for sole occupancy, but the owner only took a few pounds off the full room price. I was wet, cold and tired after a long walk and didn't feel like looking around... After reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor I seriously considered cancelling my booking and losing my deposit. It was a great relief, then, to find that Dalkell Cottage is by no means as horrible as some of the reviews suggest. It is true that the owners do insist on getting you to take your boots off before entering the... More

My partner and I had booked in to stay at this establishment for 1 night and were extremely disappointed with the overall service and value for money. Having been ordered to remove walking boots, wet clothes, bags and poles, we were then frogmarched into the drying room and then the dining room where we were required to fill in paperwork,... More

Unable to find anything else in the Tyndrum area we booked this at short notice and were offered The Cottage at £37 ppn for 2 nights so cannot comment on the size or state of the rooms in the main building. I would definitely recommend The Cottage which is an extension on the side of the main building; you enter... More

A only recommendable stop on the WHW - the room was small but nice, had a shower included. The owner was nice (a true buisieness woman: "Take all you're friends with you next time!") and thw breakfast also.

very small room, not en suite but had a private bathroom. didn't do packed lunches (which we knew in advance) and that seemed to go with the general feeling of lack of interest in you as a guest. the drying room was a bonus but the whole rigmarole of boots off outside, bring your boots and poles in with you...
