After suffering the rather cynical service of some hotels on the WHW it was a huge pleasure to be warmly greeted on early arrival by the manager of the Dalkell Cottage Guest House in Tyndrum. It seems she really enjoys her job - i.e. making life pleasant for her visitors, rather than treating them like numbers on a bottom line.... More

The welcome at Dalkell Cottages was friendly and helpful. The accommodation is convenient enough for a walk into the heart of Tyndrum for drinks/dinner. The establishment is somewhat cramped and the breakfast functional.

As per previous posts we found this place to be somewhat lacking. Sleep quality was very poor with a lumpy hard mattress and breakfast was a big disappointment especially if you go with the continental option. My wife received 2 croissants and 3 bits of prepacked cheese. We pre ordered the night before as instructed and I got 1 sausage... More

My friend and I had a twin room so small that we had to take turns moving around the room. There was a shower, but no toilet (the toilet was way down the hall). The tiny shower was more like a closet at the foot of one of the beds. Not only was the room uncomfortable, but the host was... More

We were met by Chris who is very friendly and helpful. As there were 8 of us, 4 were in the cottage and we also had 2 x twins, en suite. The cottage was lovely, perfect for all 8 of us to have beer and chat. The twin en suites tho' were a bit disappointing, really small and the en... More

Unbelievable! The manager/owner resembles Colonel Sir Harold Wilberforce Clifton with the manners and rules of a by gone colonial era. The front door is locked, (not a good start). After ringing two bells the manager arrived. We traipsed around to the back yard and ordered to remove out boots. This was outside, no seating provided, Escorted to the drying room... More

Stayed her overnight while walking the West Highland Way, very average accomadation , a bit dated, we had private bathroom, which only allowed 1 bath, then had to wait 20 minutes for water to heat up again.Bathroom was next door to room, which was not great, as would have preferred en suite.Great drying room for wet gear, very nice host... Great location, tidy room with huge bed, even if the bathroom is a bit small. Comfortable lounge room to use and lovely breakfast. Suggested some beautiful places for us to visit the following day. More expensive than other places we stayed at, but I guess that was the popular location. Biggest challenge is the parking at the front and having... More

Felt I had to write a review having seen some negative reviews. We stayed in the cottage, 4 of us. excellent accomodation, very spacious. tv and free wifi . Chris is an absolute star, proper old school gentleman and his wife his lovely too. Stayed here twice, had two great breakfasts, and very reasonably priced.

We recently walked the West Highland Way and used many bars, restaurants, B&B's and hotels along the route. The Dalkell Cottage is stuck in a bit of a time warp! This was our fourth nights stay and I must say was the worst of the week. The rooms are very old and jaded with 1970's style décor and a damp... More
