Stayed here Friday to Monday on a Shearings turkey and tinsel weekend, excellent value for money at £99 each including bed, breakfast and evening meals, day excursion into Glasgow on the Saturday and a trip to the lovely Inverary on the Sunday. Friendly staff, clean room overlooking Loch Lomond, good choice of food (except for the tinned carrots and sweetcorn... more

We had a room in an old part of the hotel, possibly servants quarters originally? It felt like being in a cottage, low ceiling, slightly slanting floor, small window, really cosy! Lovely bathroom, with a bath and a shower, getting hot water without boiling or freezing yourself was a bit of an art form and the addition of a net... more

shearings room letting policy is very flawed. On booking a room we were told there was only one room left & as it was at the front of the hotel there would be a supplement. On talking to guests in the hotel 2 other couples were also given this information even though none of us wanted special rooms. One even... more

I travelled with my sister via Shearings ,for a short break, mainly to see the Tattoo. The hotel looks impressive at first, but it was scruffy, and not exactly clean. Our room was satisfactory---we had paid for an upgrade at the front, and was gig and comfortable. The food was repetative, with no variation of veg at our evening meal for the duration of our stay.the entertainment was... more

I booked half board for two nights. I phoned ahead the day before to say I wouldn't get in for dinner. Immediately the staff suggested they could make something cold and leave it in the room for when we arrived. Nice touch #1. When I arrived the ginger haired reception staff good naturedly joked that we were too late and... more

Ive just returned from a Shearings Coach holiday to the Tarbet Hotel. The hotel is about 30minutes drive from Glasgow city centre. The hotel is facing Loch Lomand the largest lake in scotland (in length). Right infront of the hotel is an A road so its slightly busy/noisy during the day but fine at night. Also there is a rest... more

We stayed at the Tarbet Hotel whilst on a long drive up to the Isle of Skye, we had not booked a hotel, having planned to see how far we got and take pot luck. Our luck was not with us. The hotel looks quite impressive at first glance, but this was deceiving. We were given a double room at... more
