The Inversnaid Bunkhouse is an outstanding place to eat and have witty conversation with the staff. The food is fantastic with a great selection including a vegan Madras curry. I'm not even vegan and this was fantastic. Good wine is available as well as a very good Haggis, especially for the uninitiated. That's the world upstairs, now for the world... More

We stayed here on day 2 of our West Highland Way walk. We had walked from Balmaha which wasn't a great distance (around 14 miles) but was a really tough walk as we opted to take the low route to look for Rob Roy's captive cave rather than stick to the upper route - bad mistake as it was very... Stopped here on day two of our cycle trip south on the west highland way, and what a welcome break it was. The cycle part along side Loch Lomond isn't much fun when you're carrying your bike and it's raining. Then the hill up to the bunkhouse is just the icing on the cake. But the bunkhouse is well worth... More

Take the number to call for a ride from the bottom of the very long hill. Before that, book the Log Cabin rather than the bunkhouse. For a couple would be fine, but there are not enough bathrooms, and no locks on the doors, so when you go upstairs to enjoy the incredibly fine food and comfortable couches for telling... More

After a long slog up the hill (wish we'd opted for the complimentary taxi service!!) we were warmly welcomed. The bunkhouse is clean and modern. As well as the bunkhouse itself, there are private rooms (which we were in) with a shared bathroom. The food in the "Top Bunk Bistro" was top-notch and reasonably priced. Service throughout was friendly and... More

We spent 1 night here after a long wet walk from Balmaha & were very grateful for the free taxi service from the lochside up the 1 mile hill to the bunkhouse! The drying room was brilliant to get our gear dried out for the following day, we didn't expect that so it was a bonus. Our room was very... More

I mirror other opinions on here in saying it is unfair to call this place a hostel. We stayed in a modern, private room with shared bathroom, which was literally adjacent to our room and equally modern and clean. Occasional queueing required. Set in a beautiful, silent, natural setting, which was all we needed for a romantic break in the... More

I did a few days 'cycle camping' around Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine (the latter being 5 or so miles from the Bunkhouse) and paid £8.50 per night to pitch my tent just outside the hostel for 2 nights (it was the last week in July and the Commonwealth Games were on in Glasgow, so there was no room at... We enjoyed our stay here in a private room, which was basic but fine for a couple of nights. Friendly staff with a positive attitude, good food ( huge portions) and a well stocked bar. Reasonable prices and a lovely location on the river.

This is a truly great place; it's a bunkhouse that's doesn't know the word 'basic'. A beautiful building, good food and drink and even newspapers, DVDs and books for on a wet day. Can't believe some people have moaned on here about it; seriously, get a life. It's a £20 a night bunkhouse not a five star hotel. And as... More
