Room was very spacious with good facilities - closet with hanging space and drawer space, a desk for my computer, flat panel TV, large ensuite bathroom with shower, view of their gorgeous gardens. Tea and coffee in the room. Hosts were very nice and helpful, provided lots of information about tourist ideas for the area. Good breakfast menu with choice... more

We have stayed 4 times at Balmillig and have always been well looked after. We have found Helensburgh itself well located for walking and exploring the Loch Lomond area or for going into Glasgow by rail. Anne and John are always ready to provide good advice on places to visit or the best routes for a walk. We hope to... more

Wonderful stay, freindly host and hostess...such hospitality in a beautiful home, every traveller's needs catered for. Rennie Macintosh house within a few minutes walk was an added bonus as was the proximity of the railhead for excellent service to the centre of Glasgow. more

Stayed for 2 nights over the May weekend, beautiful spacious clean room, lovely bathroom with underfloor heating. Not much happening in Helensburgh (beautiful views over the clyde). But the perfect base for touring the surrounding area. (loch lomond 10 minutes drive, glasgow 30 minutes by train.) Anne and John Urquhart were terrific hosts, nothing too much trouble. Very helpful with their... more

We chose Balmillig to saty in for a night because the website was easy to find, had a good "feel" to it and seemed to offer a higher quality than most offerings in Helensburgh. All that was true and we were warmly welcomed, shown our room, given a key and that was it.........no rules & regulations!! Anne and John very... more

Balmillig is situated in a calm area of the town but still not far from pubs, restaurants and shopping. On the stroll up and down you could admire many of the lovely Scottish type stone villas (or small castles even) Helensburgh is also a perfect starting point for daytrips in various directions. more

We got a great 3 nights for the price of 2 winter deal here and really loved the place, wished we had time for another 3. The location was within walking distance of the main Helenburgh shops & eating places but in a lovely quiet area with views across the Clyde. Rooms were so comfortable we went to bed early... more

We stayed for three nights in January, nothing was too much trouble, Ann and John werealways on hand if you wanted anything but were not intrusive at all. They were very helpful and had loads of literature for places to see, gave us brilliant guidance on where to go and see, help with train times etc, and nothing was too... more

We went away for my birthday on the 28th November through to the 1st December 2008. From the moment we arrived we new we were in for a special weekend. Anne and Jon greeted us warmly. After showing us to our room, Anne made a pot of tea for us and we sat and relaxed in the conservatrory. The room... more
