My husband and I were staying room only for one night with number 3 child, who is now a late teen and had a room on her own for the first holiday ever, since her 18 year old sister had for some reason decided to go to the Canaries instead. We asked for rooms close to each other, and when... more

The word which I believe best describes the Buchanan Arms is "tired." The outside has been given a coat of paint which does nothing to hide the poor condition of the window frames and other woodwork. Inside was very disappointing. I must say that the towels and bedding were spotlessley clean, however, the same could not be said for the... more

Stayed one night on a Half Board basis. This was our second visit to this hotel which is in a lovely location. The leisure facilities was excellent , the bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a nice range of toiletries provided. However, the evening meal was a real disappointment as it had been on our previous visit several years ago.... more

Stayed here for the weekend as wanted to explore Loch Lomond. The hotel was great in terms of location as we could easily travel to the National Park, Balloch and Stirling plus there are some nice places to drink and eat in the village of Dryman. The breakfast was amazing, the leisure club is great, the staff are friendly and... more

Wanting to stay somewhere special for my son's wedding booked family and friends into this hotel as their website stated "luxury" hotel. What a disappointment. The ground floor smelt of smoked kippers which permeated the lounge areas for 2 days. The bedrooms were filthy and bedding and towels worn. the rooms were not serviced every day. It was expensive and... more

We had this hotel booked well in advance of our trip but were pondering whether to cancel due to some of the reviews. However, thankfully we decided to give it a go and we were more than pleased that we did. The restaurant is first class (food and service) and very well priced. The location is also excellent a short... more

Many thanks for your positive review of The Buchanan Arms Hotel and we're delighted you had such a pleasant stay. It is always disappointing to read negative reviews but I am happy to say these far outweigh the positive reviews we receive. We hope to see you back at The Buchanan Arms in the near future.

Before one visits, this is not an ultra modern hotel. This is a traditional country retreat. The first feature is the original "creaky" stair at reception. One has now entered a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The manager is attentive and the staff, although young, are smart and efficient. The bedlinen and tablecovers are sparkling white. Overall the hotel is old but... more

My husband and I stayed at the Buchanan Arms for our 24th wedding anniversary and had planned the trip, the hotel and the amenities well in advance. We were a little put off by the negative comments posted on this website from previous guests but on balance we thought there was good and bad reviews, so we went ahead. We... more

We stayed in the Buchanan arms hotel 3 days for a friend's wedding in Drymen. The hotel staff were all very helpful and nice. The night manager even opened the bar for a few of us returning late (midnight) from the rehearsal dinner. (Yes, we only had a quiet nightcap so as not to disturb the guests.) The breakfasts were... more
