We stayed not in the main hotel, but in the Pilot Panther, which is an old showman's caravan. It is about a minute's walk closer to the loch from the hotel, with a fantastic view from the lovely astroturfed decking on the loch side. My kids loved the bunk beds. There is also a small kitchen and a double bed.... More

Our second visit in 10 years. Since our previous visit lots have changed: new management, still family run and owned. Some things never change: the unique location and the quiet, calm atmosphere. Nice staff and good, well filled bar. Food still on good level

It was a a hidden treasure. Beautiful room, fantastic food, wonderful staff, awesome scenery. The 6 mile single lane through Balquidder to the Monachyle MHOR was tortuous the first time. Having arrived safely and settled in, the lane then seemed the perfect deterrent to keep out the rest of the world and protect the serenity and peacefulness of the place... More

After making our way down the single track 6 mile driveway to the hotel passing the stunning views of the loch with mirror glass finish the hotel was a very pleasant surprise and once we got inside it was even better. We were hungry after the drive so asked for some sandwiches which the staff suggested we eat in the... More

How could your life not be better after visiting this bit of Scotland. It's stunning! And the hotel is a perfect way to visit the area and incentive enough to burn a few calories on lovely walks. The hotel would benefit from being less pink...but that is not a big deal...the rooms are all unique and very well appointed. Very... More

We just stayed here for one night en route to the Highlands, but we were hugely impressed. The room we had was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best we've ever had anywhere. The kids loved exploring the garden and seeing the chickens. I definitely plan to return.

This was our 3rd visit over a 10 year period , on the first 2 occasions we enjoyed some of the best food we had ever tasted. The food is still really lovely however the portion sizes have diminished and are very poor for the £57 table d'hôte price tag. I chose lamb and was surprised to only get 1... More

I would have to be very picky to find faults with Monachyle Mhor! The setting is beautiful with views that we couldn't ever get bored of. The hotel itself is a mix of old and new with plenty of cool touches. Our room was a feature (room 11) with gorgeous twin slipper baths and a big comfy bed. The shower... More

the hotel is in a stunning location. It is reached however by a single track road with passing places so practice your reversing before you arrive as it runs at points close to the waters edge and some of the verges are soft or crumbling. we had a "feature room" which included a large, comfortable bed (albeit with uncomfortable man... This hotel has a great lochside location, it's a lovely house and we had a lovely bedroom (we were upgraded on arrival as they were quiet) but it is quite expensive and doesn't always deliver what you would expect at these prices (cheapest rooms £195, our room would have been £265 had we paid full price). We were shown to... More
