Gowanlea was as good a bed & breakfast as you could wish for. The welcome from Andrea was very warm. The bedrooms are very comfortable. It is a short walk to Balloch with a host of eating places. Andrea provides advice on where to eat and activities in the area. There is a comfortable residents lounge. The breakfast was very... More

Very warm welcome given. The room was a nice size with a nice bathroom We were offered a cup of tea on arrival which was really nice. Breafast in the morning was well cooked and served with a smile. Overall a nice place to stay if your in the area for a nights stop over.

The b&b is in a great location close to great pubs and restaurants! The breakfast was really good and the bed was incredibly comfy! The owners were lovely and really welcoming wish we stayed longer than one night! Would recommend to anyone! Can't wait to return next year!

Andrea and John go the extra mile to ensure you have the best possible stay. The central location makes this ideal for exploring the Trossachs and further. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean, and all with en-suites. The guest lounge is welcoming, and Andrea will provide tea/coffee at no extra charge to guests wishing to use it. Tea/coffee and... More

Excellent visit. Our twin room was fairly spacious with a great bathroom(shower) at the back of the house, so very quiet. Andrea was warm and welcoming and she is a great cook. One of the best breakfasts of our 3 week- trip!

We chose Gowanlea for its location, about an hour from the Troon ferry and on our way to the Isle of Skye. In many years of traveling in Britain and Ireland, we have stayed in many B&Bs and guest houses. Gowanlea would rank in our top 5 of all time. Our room was spacious, attractive, and comfortable with a large... More

Friendly and very welcoming cuppa offered as we arrived. Nice to walk around easy to reach Balloch castle and Loch Lomond and surrounding areas for boat trips with fantastic views our weather wasn't good but we still had a lovely time, also there is a shopping centre with a vast amount of shops and a sea life center. Kids entertainer... More

IT was Tripadvisor write-ups that drew us to Gowanlea Guesthouse and we were not disappointed by what we found. Everything that Andrea and John Hughes and family did was aimed at making you feel more like a member of that family coming to stay rather than someone renting a room. Words like "your comfort", "pleased to help", "just ask" and... More

We had a lovely stay at Gowanlea. Great room, lovely furnishings and very clean. Andrea was very welcoming, offering us breakfast at 7.30am as we needed to get up and out early. Facilities to leave bikes safely. Lovely guest lounge and complementary teas and coffees. Excellent guest house. Would most definitely stay there again and would recommend it!
