Andrea and John go the extra mile to ensure you have the best possible stay. The central location makes this ideal for exploring the Trossachs and further. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean, and all with en-suites. The guest lounge is welcoming, and Andrea will provide tea/coffee at no extra charge to guests wishing to use it. Tea/coffee and... More

Excellent visit. Our twin room was fairly spacious with a great bathroom(shower) at the back of the house, so very quiet. Andrea was warm and welcoming and she is a great cook. One of the best breakfasts of our 3 week- trip!

We chose Gowanlea for its location, about an hour from the Troon ferry and on our way to the Isle of Skye. In many years of traveling in Britain and Ireland, we have stayed in many B&Bs and guest houses. Gowanlea would rank in our top 5 of all time. Our room was spacious, attractive, and comfortable with a large... More

Friendly and very welcoming cuppa offered as we arrived. Nice to walk around easy to reach Balloch castle and Loch Lomond and surrounding areas for boat trips with fantastic views our weather wasn't good but we still had a lovely time, also there is a shopping centre with a vast amount of shops and a sea life center. Kids entertainer... More

IT was Tripadvisor write-ups that drew us to Gowanlea Guesthouse and we were not disappointed by what we found. Everything that Andrea and John Hughes and family did was aimed at making you feel more like a member of that family coming to stay rather than someone renting a room. Words like "your comfort", "pleased to help", "just ask" and... More

We had a lovely stay at Gowanlea. Great room, lovely furnishings and very clean. Andrea was very welcoming, offering us breakfast at 7.30am as we needed to get up and out early. Facilities to leave bikes safely. Lovely guest lounge and complementary teas and coffees. Excellent guest house. Would most definitely stay there again and would recommend it!

We stayed here for one night en route to the Outer Hebrides for Easter and it was excellent. Very clean and comfortable, with lovely bathrooms. The owner who greeted us was lovely and most helpful. We had two dogs with us and it was great that they were made welcome. After a long drive, the Guest House is in an... More

Booked two rooms for two couples attending a wedding at a nearby church and then onto the Cruin in Loch Lomond. Greeted by Andrea on arrival and shown to clean spacious rooms, Andrea booked a taxi for us which arrived promptly. Breakfast was offered to us at 9.15 as we had been out very late which was nice of her.... More

This is a centrally located B&B in Balloch, a little town on the southern side of Loch Lomond. The owners are very friendly, and the cooked breakfast is very pleasant (although a specifcally vegetarian full breakfast would be nice). We had two rooms at the back of the house, and could see the mountains. But the walls were very thin... More
