We are Canadians, and stayed at the Arrochar as part of a coach trip from the west of England to Scotland. The hotel is in a fantastic location and if you are lucky enough to have a front-facing room, the views are breathtaking. However, it was a Fawlty Towers experience, but more shabby. The room was fairly large, but the... more

Before I write all the things that I did not like about this hotel, I should say that the staff were friendly and helptful and the view from the hotel is good. Our double bedroom was too small with inadequate storage space. The washbasin was in the bedroom and the toilet and shower were in a very small bathroom (it... more

Room was ok but tired and dirty - bathroom had a shower, toilet and very small hand basin, the sort that you have in the toilet at home. When we booked we were told that there were smoking rooms - there were not - it is all no smoking. The hotel caters for the coaching trade. The food was some... more

We work hard at running our own Hotel so we hoped to relax and let others (well paid by us) enjoy our stay. The reception staff seem to think that ALL scotland is no smoking. The miss understanding of the legislation needs to be understood before scotland tourism deminishes even further!. The room was the worst weve EVER seen, and... more

If only I'd read some of the reviews before I booked this hotel (have stayed at other swallow hotels and was expecting a similar standard). The decor generally is dated and in a poor state of repair with the carpets being held together with duck tape in several places. The room had a view of a brick wall and was... more

We like the other review had booked a double room well in advance. Bedspread had holes in it and was also badly frayed, water leaked from the overhead fan light we were told this was condensation but doubtful as it was also raining. The room we had you also had the sound of the fan from the kitchen from 6.45am... more

Nice spot, good views of Loch Long & surrounding scenery. Hotel in need of refurbishment, starting with the windows, (draughty old sash windows). Restaurant produces nice food and the staff are helpful. It would have been nice to choose where to sit, especially as there was plenty of space. Cutlery could be cleaner. Evening entertainment is of poor quality &... more
