This is a very tired, very shabby, sorry excuse for a hotel, which in my opinion, is simply milking it until it becomes too dilapidated to continue business. The owners claim somewhere that the hotel had a major refurbishment in 2004. This is a completely lie, unless the decorators were going for that, 'dog tired hotel', look. Perhaps they meant... more

Thank you for your comments on our hotel and I am disappointed that you found cause for complaint. Whilst the hotel may be dated, we do try to offer value for money. Several issues which you highlighted, for example breakfast being served on saucers, do not fall within our normal operating policy, and such issues are being investigated

After reading a few reviews I was a bit concerned but had no need to be. The staff where great although obviously very tired as they all seem to work all day and the hotel although a bit dated was clean and comfortable. You get what you pay for and at £28 per person per night which included a 3... more

We stayed two nights at this hotel and had a great time. Our room was very clean and spacious with a side view of Loch Long. The meals and service were very good with a good choice. Sean and his staff were very attentive. The hotel is quite old but has been moderised to a good standard. The location is... more

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely week's holiday at the Arrochar Hotel. We wanted a base from which to explore the area and this exactly suited our purpose. The rooms, bar and dining area were as pictured in the web site and our room was clean and comfortable with stunning views of Loch Long and surrounding... more

We stayed here just one night over Easter, and this was the nicest of the hotels we stayed in. Our room had views over the loch and what a spectacular view... The main areas are dated but the room was very nice and clean, and a decent size. We didn't have the evening meal at the hotel, but went to... more

We stayed here for Easter. The first night we stayed in a room with a double bed so small and creaky that any time either of us moved the other woke up. In the end I took the downy and slept on the floor. The room was a good size, but there was a big cobweb in the corner and... more

I am no longer allowed to book weekends away due to this hotel! My partner and myself are definately not snobs or picky people by any stretch infact we camp alot and stay in hostels frequently too but we have never stayed in any establishment as dated and down-right dog tired as this hotel. I had always wanted to stay... more

"I regret that you were disappointed with your stay and will agree that the hotel would benefit from refurbishment. However, to make certain issues clear, the lift broke down late Friday evening and was reported on Saturday morning and attended by an engineer at the earliest possible time. Wheelchair users are always accommodated in our ground floor rooms. The smell which...

Typical mid-price British hotel fare - rooms that smell a bit musty and could do with a thorough clean; worn carpets eveywhere; and (generally helpful) non-british staff. On the plus side, a picturesque location, and no complaints regarding heating or hot water. The 'Pitstop Diner@ adjacent to the hotel was closed when we stayed, which may well have been a... more

Thank you for your comments which I have circulated to our relevant departments. In response I would like to highlight that the hotel is a very old building and admittedly is tired -looking in some respects. However, we do feel that we offer good value for money and enthusiastic hospitality. Whilst only 25% of our current workforce is from overseas,...
