There were 14 in our party. We did secure a good deal for the weekend to include dinner. The hotel itself was clearly very grand in its heyday and one could imagine the splendour around, say, the 1930s. Still, the public areas exude that air, however, the bedrooms - while clean, and with comfy beds - were very tired and... More

We booked the Glanburn for a family reunion as we had all had many holidays in Rothesay when we were much younger. On arrival we were given room 407 on the lower ground floor. On reaching our room via 22 stairs (no lift to the lower floor) we realised that there was no shower only a bath. I contacted reception... More

Glenburn Hotel. Rothesay. My Wife and I visited this fine old hotel for the second time in early July. The first time was in July 2014, when we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. On this second visit however we had some disappointments After a fine uneventful journey we arrived to a very pleasant reception where room allocation was handled... More

Stayed 1 night. Location perfect but inside it's dated and worn and much in need of a refurb. Staff friendly enough but most have limited English. Breakfast was very disorganised and we were finished before the couple next to us had even been served even though they were there before us.

We stayed here for a weekend as the special offer advertised on TripAdvisor made this seem like a very good value option, especially as the offer was for half board. I noted that there were some unfavourable reviews, but assumed that any hotel, especially one in a large chain, would have rectified these issues by now. However, I should have... More

The entertainment at the Glenburn surpassed my expectations. The Scottish evening was superb from the Scottish Piper ,with his extensive knowledge of his bagpipes to his magical expertise of the instrument, to the children"s magnificent Scottish dancing. Watching the tiniest children mastering the sword dance is a treat not to be missed. The food in the restaurant was varied and... More

Not sure that knowing the prunes kept your wife going wasn't just a little bit too much information for us, still glad to see everything functioning as it should. Thanks very much for the fanatastic reveiw and I'll make sure Archie hears that you mentioned him in such a glowing way. Look froward to seeing you back at the Glenburn... More
