We arrived mid afternoon with our bikes, which the owner kindly let us keep in the spare bathroom downstairs. We even persuaded her to wash our cycling clothes (for a small donation) to save us walking into town and waiting in the laundrette for hours. Very kind of her to do that for us as I don't think she has... More

My partner & I have stay at Alamein House several times now, while visiting friends on the island. Each time Ursula has made us really welcome. She has a very warm welcoming smile, that makes you feel very much at home as soon as you arrive. The rooms are lovely & comfortable, everything you need, ie coffee, tea, biscuits for... More

Spent a lovely week at Alamein House. Ursula made my granddaughter, my mini poodle Lucy, and me very welcome. (Lucy is very well behaved but sometimes it's difficult to convince hoteliers that she will be no trouble). The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked to order. We had a ground floor twin with en-suite and a lovely view of the... More

A very comfortable stay at a really reasonable price. Ursula is a very friendly and helpful host. Bedrooms are well equipped and most seem to have great sea views. Breakfasts are substantial. I would definitely book again.

Had another great time in Rothesay staying with Ursula at Alamein House. The view across the bay from the dining room and the bedrooms is fantastic and I never close the curtains, much to my wife's dismay! Ursula cooks the breakfasts to perfection (how does she do that?), and the next time we come back to Bute to visit my... More

This B & B was run by one of the most charming ladies you could ever wish to meet, nothing was a trouble, the accommodation was comfortable and breakfast enjoyable, with off road parking, from our window we could watch the ferry and cuise ships come and go, and the morning we left our hostess came out to wave us... We stayed at this B&B in february and enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. The landlady was very welcoming and gave us some good ideas as to what we could do in Rothesay. We enquired about the history of the house and we were treated to a look at a room... More
