Yes beautiful location and yes with all the pretensions of a five star luxury getaway. The food was not only seriously overpriced, it was over blown, over fussy, over tasteless and verging on the inedible. Too many restaurants are posing as fine dining establishments when they haven't got the basics right- like taste, flavour, seasonality. The glasses are gleaming, the... more

This place is truly wonderful - the setting, the hotel, food and staff - all make for an extraordinary stay. For us, this time only one night, it is magical. What is brilliant is that whether you are staying for one night or longer the welcome and attention are the same. Philip and his team are very professional - polite,... more

Kilcamb Lodge Hotel sits on the shore of Loch Sunart in 22 acres of wild flower meadow and woodland.Otters and red deer visit regularly and the beauty of the area offers unsurpassed views, walks and beaches.Mull,Skye and the Trenish Isles are all highly accessible from the hotel and we managed a couple of day trips which were quite unforgettable,in particular the... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night and had a lovely time. Stayed in a standard double which was small but suited us fine. The evening meal was a delight and well worth the money, wine was reasonably priced and the service was excellent! Would recomend this to anyone looking for a quiet retreat with friendly staff who have... more

This was the first night of a two week tour of the highlands and islands with our 21 month old labradoodle in tow.My wife and are well travelled and used to the very best, but managing to find quality dog friendly hotels is not easy.To some hotels dog friendly might mean inferior rooms and a list of dos and dont's.Our TOP... more

Strontian is a beautiful little village, and Kilcamb has a good location overlooking the loch. The hotel is trying hard to provide a 5 star experience, with welcome boards, evening bedroom turn-downs, and a fine-dining restaurant - but somehow it didn't quite add up. The lodge itself is nice, but doesn't have the feeling of space and grandeur that you... more

Ignoring personal invective, I would like to correct some inaccuracies in jqg's recent report. We are a 3 AA Red Star hotel with 2 AA Rosettes for fine food. Our Red Star status denotes us as a hotel which belongs to a group known as “Inspector’s Choice”. These hotels are specially selected and given elevated status and Red (not Black)...

We enjoyed a four day break in this beautiful hotel. The setting of the hotel is just glorious. Set on the shore of the loch the scenery is breathtaking, and the informal meadow (currently a beautiful haze of Bluebells) just adds to the beauty of the area. We arrived on a beautiful spring afternoon and were met by the hotel... more
