After a day out in Oban footsore and very hot we stopped at The Argyll Inn for refreshing drink. It was busy and the food being served looked appetising. I ordered a starter of Buffalo Wings in a spicy dressing as I was not very hungry and my partner had the gammon steak with chips and a fried egg. The... More

The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived and while we decided on what we wanted to eat, we ordered a drink from the bar. The waiter took our order, only to come back and say there was none left. We ordered something different, only to be told again that it was not available!! We did manage to get something eventually.... More

Having entered this establishment on a cold afternoon, the welcome from the barman soon warmed us up, he came over to the table, had a crack with us while taking our orders, when the food came it was excellent, very well cooked and hot. Have been their before received an excellent meal, and was not disappointed this time either. Highly... More

We were visiting Lochgilphead for the Institution of the new Rector of Christ Church and were here for one night only. I found the Argyll Inn on the Internet. I have to say that our first impressions here were not good - a rather dingy set of stairs led up from the bar to a gloomy corridor. Initially, the room... More

Looking for a good lunch while cycling (yes in November) on the Crinan Canal, we found a well rated cafe full and next tried the Argyll Inn. A traditional pub: stone floor, central bar, wood fire, tv screens (only one on, playing music). A very good choice of food: we had scallops on black pudding, and three-cheese macaroni, with cask... We stopped here for lunch and it was a bit hit or miss. My husband had the chicken breast stuffed with haggis and it looked lovely and he thoroughly enjoyed it. This was the hit. Unfortunately I had the miss. The haddock and chips was very greasy and had either been reheated or cooked too long as the batter was... More

A down to earth hotel with good food and decent bar prices. really enjoyed our stay. Even went the extra mile to help on of our group who arrived late and kept the kitchen open... More

Even though the kitchen had stopped serving the friendly barman and staff ensured that we got lunch, they even welcomed the dog too with a nice big bowl of cold water. Very nice food and very reasonably priced.
