We stayed in the Hotel. The rooms are comfortable and cosy. Everything is clean, but the bathroom was a bit outdated which includes the typical wriggling around, till the water of the shower has the right temperature. The restaurant serves good food, but for staying a week the range is too small and when you like your crumble sweet, do... More

We stayed here because our BB was overbooked and it was quite expensive at £90 for the room. The staff were very friendly and dinner was quite good but breakfast was only fair with no fresh fruit, just tinned oranges and grapefruit - NOT what you expect at this price.

Stayed here while doing the west highland way. We had a triple room with 3 single beds and loads of room. Bright airy and clean. Shower was dire and didn't work properly but after a day walking the bath and never ending supply of hot water was very welcome.food was very pub food ok but nothing special. best bit was... More

I recently spent a long weekend staying at the Macdonald hotel in Kinlochlevin. From arriving in the car park to handing my hotel key back, the customer service and warmth generated from the staff was second to none. I had the pleasure of staying in the cabins on the friday night and one of their hotel rooms on the saturday... More

Ron, Ian and Brian ( 3 Lags ) stayed at the MacDonald 20th June 2014 in one of the chalets. Lovely warm welcome and great place to stay. The value for money cabins kept the snoring in, and the midges out; just what you want. Lovely food and breakfasts; we were also promised a late night snack after our 16... More

After a truly horrible day of walking through horizontal rain on the West Highland Way, we fell into the welcoming walker's bar, and booked into one of the cabins in the grounds. After drying off, and showering (bliss) and hanging as much wet gear in the drying room as we could, we ate in the bar and enjoyed a few... More

This hotel is right by the WHW and has a campsite and chalets as well as a camping area. It is very good value and the service was good too. To make this a 5 star location, I would suggest more toilet facilities for people in the campsite and chalets (perhaps the new owners have this on their agenda?). The... More

This was our mountaineering club's second visit in as many months and again Mark and Helen and staff were superb. Four of our group stayed in one of the cabins while others were staying in a bed and breakfast in the village. We had let Mark and Helen know that some of us were going to make an attempt at... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we enjoyed having your party here and 10 munros is no mean feat - so lasagne was the least we could offer. Since your trip we have done several more 'late night lasagnes' so you have started a trend! Thanks Again! More

A friendly welcome and helpful staff. The lady on reception rung my room when my bag had arrived (I arrived before it as it had been a short walking day on the WHW). The decor seemed a little outdated but the room was comfortable and clean. I ate in the bar and the food was superb. I had lentil soup... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The MacDonald Hotel and Cabins in Kinlochleven is at the head of Loch Leven with breathtaking views. Ideally situated for those walking the West Highland Way, along with other walks in the area. Mark and I took the hotel over on 17th January 2014 and appreciate all of the reviews on Tripadvisor, but look forward to receiving our own. We have seen the feedback on Breakfast times and this will be addressed! Thanks and we look forward to welcoming you. Helen & Mark ... more   less
