On the recommendation of a friend I booked a 'Romantic Weekend' for my wife & myself at Taychreggan Hotel, Nr Taynuilt. We were both in need of a well earned break, emerging from a long and dreary Scottish Winter. On arrival we were treated like VIP's and given 5 star treatment from management and Staff alike. Our room, which has its... more

For a quiet get away with stunning scenery try the Taychreggan on Loch Awe - you could say its Awesome! Very friendly staff but not overly so, nicely furnished suites or rooms with four poster beds and modernised ensuites. Most rooms have a view of the stunning loch and hotel grounds. Good breakfast choice and excellent cuisine for the evening... more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights mid feb to get away from it all. Our room was very comfortable (unfortunatley can not remember the name of the room - it was at the top of the staircase in the main hallway). 4 poster bed, plasma tv, goodies in room etc. The bathroom was devine - huge bath... more

We splashed out on this "upmarket retreat" (according to the Rough Guide) for the last night of our holiday, but I wish we had saved our money. The fabric of the room was very worn- knackered soft bed, carpet in the bathroom (yuck), bathroom fan broken, bedside lamps not functioning, curtains falling off the rails, mysteriously stained towels etc. I've... more

There seem to be a lot of mixed opinions about this place, and that is understandable. Our rooms were adequate, but not great. The food was very good - well prepared, with fresh ingredients and good, friendly service. The front-desk was probably the weakest part of the experience, and that seems to be a consistent complaint. Depending upon which manager... more

the long trip up the 7 mile drive was well worth the fabulous food. Don't be put off by the long approach - the road is excellent with passing places every 50 yards or so. Staff excellent and very attentive. Location superb. As we had dogs we were allocated one of the more modest rooms. It was small but had... more

This was to be a romantic weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what a disappointment! We mistakingly thought that the price reflected the standards - TOTALLY WRONG. This has once been a lovely hotel in a beautiful location, the location remains the same but the hotel is sadly a shadow of it's former self. The external paintwork is in... more

We booked a loch view suite via the internet. On arrival we found no loch view (see photos), frayed towels, dirty carpet an cheap furnishings so we changed hotels as hotel manager/owner's attitude was awful. This hotel's location is stunning but its exploited by the price and the misleading room descriptions on its website. If you want a truly magical... more

With just a few improvements, this could be such a fabulous hotel. But like others who have written reviews here, we found our experience unfortunately lessened by the guest rooms themselves. First, the plusses: The setting is just stunning. On one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland, it is surrounded by woodlands and offers some great walks. The main... more

We just returned from 3 nights at Taychreggan. We stayed in a Superior room and it was very comfortable and quiet. The food and service were excellent. The staff really cater to the guests. Great location for touring the area and we really want to return. more
