We stayed at the Taychreggan hotel for 3 nights. We were delighted with the cleanliness of our room and the attentiveness of staff who obviously take a lot of pride in their work. The hotel has been there since the 17th century and maintains a lot of its original character; it is isolated on the shore of Loch Awe which... More

After reaching Oban and finding every Hotel was booked in the area we spread the net and forty minutes away using smart phones we found this place. We rang late at night, slightly panicked, as we thought we would have to either sleep in the car or drive even further for somewhere to stay. We spoke to a very polite... More

A three hundred year old property which is as modern as of today, the property is right at Loch Awe, managed well and the food is the best in the entire Scotland..the trophies on the wall speak for it. Fiona who manages the property, makes sure that each and every guest is attended to personally, there is no reason given... More

This could be a fantastic hotel, but the management is somewhat offhand and the old building is poorly maintained...broken roof tiles, wood rot in window corners, squeaky floorboards, clumsy repairs to fittings. Our bedroom was magnificently decked out in blue and yellow, but the mattress didn't quite fit the bed frame and had such a dip in the middle that... More

Stayed in April 2014 This place is nothing but FABULOUS !!! Almost feel like there is no more needed to be said ( haha ). Location - next to the lake, no other houses around, woods.....hmm, what else can you wish for. Perfect for walks in nature. Room - clean and spacious, loved the bathroom with an extra large bath... My husband and I stayed here for one night in room 23. We were looking for a complete get-away and that's what we got! The single track road that leads to the hotel really makes you feel like you are heading into nowhere, a great way to escape mobile phones, emails etc for a while! Especially as I couldn't persuade... More

I'm not reviewing the hotel here, just the restaurant. When we first check into the hotel and we were shown the menu, a five course taster, a little bell rang inside me saying, go somewhere else! Everything about the hotel screams old, stuffy and worn down. A fair assumption would be that the food would be the same but it's... More

I took my partner to Taychreggan as I thought it would be the perfect place to propose to her and it didn't disappoint! Views of the Loch are fantastic and the hotel has a lovely tranquil atmosphere that is complemented by the shabby chic traditional Scottish decorations and the friendly staff who eager to help. Food was lovely and there... More

On the whole a great and memorable stay.... The positives: I had requested an upgrade to a loch view room and had it confirmed but when we arrived ...it wasn't! However, this was quickly rectified and the room we had was fabulous. The staff were all lovely, polite, engaging and eager to please. The location was idyllic. The negatives:The toilet seat... More
