Nestling in a delightful part of Grampian Scotland, the Udny Arms Hotel is very convenient for Aberdeen and main routes, yet sitting quietly in a riverside, country village setting, not far from the coast and beaches. Cruden Bay and the famous Royal Aberdeen championship golf course are only a few minutes away. The hotel still bears testimony to the golden age of touring, golfing and country sporting activity and has carefully retained all that unmistakable character and personality and many artefacts of a bygone era. Modern comforts blend with a traditional style and charm that escapes most city centre hotels, making it a wonderful alternative to Aberdeen for the discerning traveller seeking that bit more than a standardised city centre hotel. more » « less

This property is in rapid decline ! I have stayed at this hotel regularly ( 2-3 times a year ) over the last 12 years or so, and it is fair to say that the hotel offering was traditionally of a consistently good quality along with an excellent restaurant offering. The last year or two has seen the hotel change... more

Visiting Aberdeen on business, as my meetings were arranged at short notice, this was the only hotel that had a vacancy in the immediate vacinity of Aberdeen. Despite being only 14 miles north of Aberdeen, the standard taxi fare was £35 each way. The hotel in its heyday was obviously quite grand (as the hotel's website would have you believe),... more

We went for a meal a few days ago and were somewhat disappointed by the restaurant. We had been 2 years ago and really enjoyed the experience at the time but standards seem to have come done since. The food was excellent but service was very slow altough there were only 2 other tables booked. We ordered a bottle from... more

Upon checking in and finding that my room had no shower (only a bathtub) I asked to be transferred to one that did. Unfortunately, the only room available with a shower forced me to sacrifice the convenience of a double bed and accept two single beds. The bedding was old and had springs that creaked and groaned. The windows were... more

Went for Sunday lunch on the back of some good recommendations. Asked for a table in the restaurant when I phoned. We were put into a side room with about as much ambience as a bad dentists waiting room. Table next to us had a dirty discloth lying on it. Nobody was forthcoming with a wine list, when requested I... more

My husband and I attended a wedding here. We were really disapointed with the rooms. Our room was cold and the bedding had holes in it. There were bugs in the bathroom and even if I could have braved the bugs the bath had rust all over. We paid 65 pounds for the night and I would have rather pitched... more

We chose this hotel because it advertising that it is 3* standard with both the AA & the Scottish Tourist Board & because of its advertised location"overlooking the Ythan Estuary". Our bedrooms were,on booking, promissed to have a lovely view of the river. In fact this view was over the hotel ancilliary buildings & car park, with a glimpse of the river from... more

I have stayed at the Udny Arms on several occasions. It is clean, neat and has a wonderful dining room along with a friendly pub. Rooms are not big but comfortable. The location is very good. From this hotel, lots of famous and not so famous golf courses can be accessed. To name three, Cruden Bay, Mercar and Royal Aberdeen... more
