The service was lovely. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. The food was amazing and the value for money was second to none. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. The setting is beautiful also and in the middle of a traditional Scottish village.

I waited an hour for my meal to arrive at the table, during which time I had to listen to a loud chap (staff) walking around being annoying to all. Eventually the same chap delivered my food which was just a burger and it was virtually inedible and drenched in fat. No apologies were made for the wait. I then... More

We are so impressed by the helpful and friendly staff. We stopped in momentarily on our road trip. The gentleman at the front told us about the local area, and even drove ahead of us to a lesser-known spot for viewing puffins ! We were thrilled. And we got the shot! Oh, and he invited us in to the lounge... More

Disappointing food. Not much taste to the haddock and the smoked mackerel could have been bought in. Sticky toffee pudding was pretty good though. Such a nice place otherwise, and great service. Very clean toilets.

I was at the Udny recently with my husband and parents and had a lovely meal. The food was beautiful (sole morney - delicious!) and the service was fantastic. I will be back here soon and would recommend it highly to everyone.

Been here twice recently for a lunchtime bar meal. Comfortable place to eat and the bar is more like a mini restaurant that a bar. Avoid the seats in the alcove if you are a large person. Good choice of bar snacks and good value (for overpriced Aberdeenshire!). You can combine a lunch here with a walk around the outside... More

Although the food was good it was expensive. the bar "snack" menu seemed to be a shortened version of the restaurant menu, not what I would call snacks. The furniture in the room was ancient and dilapidated and there was dust on the bathroom door. The bed was only roughly made in the morning and the cup I used was... More

Our superior room (20) was anything but. The room was small & the window looked out onto the extractor fan. There was paint peeling in a number of places & dirty marks on the walls. Parts of the bathroom suite were cracked. Worst of all the bathroom was dirty & showed clear evidence of the previous occupants. Breakfast didn't begin... More

A nice place to stay. Would stay again if in area. Hotel backs up to golf course and estuary with a nice beach to walk with a seal colony. The food was excellent, nice bar with locals downstairs if you're up late. Friendly and hospitable, felt very welcomed. Excellent value. Internet is a little bit slow but as I was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in a delightful part of Grampian Scotland, the Udny Arms Hotel is very convenient for Aberdeen and main routes, yet sitting quietly in a riverside, country village setting, not far from the coast and beaches. Cruden Bay and the famous Royal Aberdeen championship golf course are only a few minutes away. The hotel still bears testimony to the golden age of touring, golfing and country sporting activity and has carefully retained all that unmistakable character and personality and many artefacts of a bygone era. Modern comforts blend with a traditional style and charm that escapes most city centre hotels, making it a wonderful alternative to Aberdeen for the discerning traveller seeking that bit more than a standardised city centre hotel. ... more   less
