A friend and I spent the weekend in the very pretty village of Poolewe. We were staying in the area to take part in our 1st 'Great Wilderness Challenge' - an annual event now in its 30th year! We travelled a couple of hours north from Inverness and enjoyed a very picturesque drive through the mountains up into the highlands.... More

Oh dear, where to start? We stayed in a self-contained flat in the annex - it was horrible! Everything was very dated and looked and felt filthy! The beds had old soft mattresses. There were pubic hair in the shower and the toilet had been used before we moved in! The service was unfriendly, the food was poor. And the... More

After staying at Poolewe Hotel last year I couldn’t wait to return for another visit. During my stay I took part in the Great Wilderness Challenge half marathon which starts from the village hall 200 meters from the hotel. On arrival I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff and quickly shown to room number 14 which included 2 very... More

The room was a twin that was a decent size and a very nice en suite bathroom. The water pressure and amount of hot water was excellent - something that is needed after a day in the mountains. We slept well. Breakfast was very poor. There was only one staff member on duty to take orders, serve coffee and clear... More

This was our second visit to the Poolewe Hotel, and again we really enjoyed our stay. The view across Loch Ewe is magnificent. There was a good and varied choice of food on both the breakfast and dinner menus, so both fussy eaters and people on most diets will be able to find a tasty meal there. The staff were... More

Nothing wrong but nothing great about it. You are not going to feel that you are staying anywhere special even though the surrounding area is ...... We'd left our booking late so we didn't have any other choice.

Thank you for your review. I note it was some time ago you stayed at the hotel, September last year, and felt the hotel was in need of updating. We take all our customer comments on board but would like to emphasise that although we are a small independently run hotel in a very remote part of the Country, we... More

We were touring the area and called in the Poolewe Hotel for a meal. We were really impressed with the quality of food; well cooked, plenty of it and good choice. The service was excellent, lots of local information of what to do in the area was available and atmosphere was very friendly. We thought the location was amazing, overlooking... More

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. We were touring Scotland on motorcycles and found a friendly welcome here. The room was quite small but clean and functional. The wi-fi was good and the food excellent. It is in a remote position but when touring Scotland that's part of the deal. The hosts were friendly and the bar was reasonably... More

For me, this was a couple of days away from being a full-time carer for my 94 year old mother. I was kinda desperate for some time off and was determined to enjoy it. I received a friendly welcome, was told where food was served; evening meals at the bar or restaurant, and breakfasts, also in the restaurant. I was... More

Although I've eaten here before, I'd not stayed in the hotel until this week. I was a little apprehensive as this type of hotel tends to be either really good or really bad. Fortunately we had a great stay. The rooms are very clean and functional. The staff are very friendly and the food served was very tasty. Poolewe is... More

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you had a "great stay" and will be visiting us again. As you so rightly point out the hotel is in a remote location and very reasonably priced. We are a small independently run Coaching Inn, set in a... More
