This hotel provides all the essential comforts for an enjoyable stay in an extremely remote corner of Scotland. With lovely views from many of the windows, the hotel has the only bar and restaurant for many miles around. Fortunately, both are excellent, with an impressive selection of meal options on the menu, and with lager and Orkney ale on tap.... More

Touring my favourite part of Scotland - from Durness down to Kyle - for a couple of weeks, I looked for the best place to use as a base for a few days, while I revisited the wonderful coastline and beaches in the northernmost section. Not being impressed with the available accommodation further north, I remembered this hotel from a... More

Thanks to Leona, family and staff for another fantastic stay at your hotel. We were only there for 2 nights but the service, room, hospitality and food were spot on - it even managed to stay dry! It's a long drive to this part of Sutherland but in my opinion it is worth every minute of the journey. We will... More

Stayed there Saturday night and was warmly welcomed by staff and owners. Breakfast as usual was superb. The hotel was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay. My room was spotless and the evening meal of Sea Bass was very well priced and cooked to perfection. I was sorry they had no rooms available for the following night... More

This hotel is situated on a hillside overlooking the harbour and loch and in an excellent position for exploring the beautiful Sutherland coast and the stunning Oldshoremore Beach is less than 5 mins drive from the hotel. The hotel looks fine from the outside, but on entering you immediately notice how outdated it is. This area is very remote and... More

A splendid hotel, with wonderful views of the surrounding country, very good meals and excellent rooms. The Sutherland countryside is, of course, not to everyone's taste, but for many it provides a welcome change from city life. It is relatively close to Durness and to the ferry to Cape Wrath.

My husband and I were touring round north and west Scotland. This hotel was just off our route. And it also enabled us us to visit some of the glorious beaches just west of here It is clean and comfy. Breakfast was excellent and dinner was very good - you need to bring your appetite!

I've used this hotel many times in the past on my travels and the mass disorganisation almost added to the character of the place, however, this time was a little different. When you combine disorganisation and a lack of basic cleanliness then you kind of get an idea where your stay is heading. We arrived at the hotel to be... More

Hello Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay here. I would like to reply to a few of your comments. I find the comment about the stairs not being vacuumed slightly unfair. The stairs, reception and lounge area are hoovered each morning just before 11am, when the bar and lounge... More

This is a very remote area so you do not have a lot to choose from however this is a comfortable place to stay. Free wifi is available and the food is very nice. The owner was very pleasant and was kind enough to give us a lift to our transport. The rooms are large and were heated for us... More
