I have to admit, we didn't choose to stay here thinking it would be amazing. Me and my partner came on her staff rate and just wanted somewhere cheap enough to stay whilst we explored Edinburgh over the weekend. The location is good - not a long drive into Edinburgh city (and well sign posted) - and there's the outlet... More

The hotel has no 'curve" appeal, unloved outside, lots of cigarette ends and weeds - we were a little worried when we arrived. Inside, clean, tidy and modern. Room fine, as you would expect - a family room Pool area, small but perfectly formed - we had it to ourselves which was nice Breakfast good Fire alarm at 7.30am not... More

Stayed here as part of a pre arranged trip to Edinburgh and whilst the hotel is very clean and comfortable with huge super king size beds, I was frustrated by the general negative attitude of the staff, particularly in the restaurant. Only one member of staff actually smiled, the rest walk around with some sort of depression. CHEER UP! We... More

I normally stay at the Houston House when I travel to Livingston but on this occasion booked the Mercure. I was disappointed...rooms were in need of a makeover, old carpets, bathroom smelled of smoke (room 250) and breakfast was greasy. The fruit selection with the yoghurt was really poor. The gym was tatty and tired, rowing machine not working and... More

The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower effective. However the room was a bit tired and could do with a replacement of the furniture and a general doing-up. The room was not air conditioned and the window didn't open much so it was quite hot on even a relatively cool summer day. I would... More

Stayed one night on a business trip - Hotel was nice, and well placed to the shopping centre which is a 20 -25 minute (Access through Asda) My Room was clean and ok - Could do with updating, but clean, which is the main thing! I asked for my room to be somewhere quiet, but my room was opposite the... More

The rooms are basic, but spacious. I found the bathroom a bit grubby (grouting could be done with being re-done). The pillows are AWFUL! They really should invest in new ones. So hard and uncomfortable. Pool was nice and quiet. Breakfast was ok. Nothing special and probably over priced for the selection to be honest. Staff nice and friendly. Good... More

Stayed here last year at the end of May, food and staff still excellent BUT still those pillows. If you are used to sleeping on bricks then you will have no problem at all, if not, you to will have sleepless nights as these pillows are far to hard to give any comfort at al. I asked if they had... More
