Warm and efficient welcome at reception.Spacious public rooms. Bedroom fair-sized, newly refurbished with excellent bathroom. Very efficient service in a busy dining room . Imaginative food, well-cooked. Useful wine list with fair prices. more

Stayed for 2 nights in May. The room was small but nicely decorated and spotless and overall the hotel is very comfortable with a nice bar, good lounge and rather old fashioned dining room. The owners were brilliant when we turned up with a load of soaking stuff, letting us use the hotel drying room. Breakfast was good, dinner OK... more

This hotel is a lovely old traditional highland hotel, in an excellent location on the outskirts of Tarbert in a mature tree-lined garden and with a burn running alongside. It is not the cheapest, but its food is good and most of the rooms are fresh. I have rated the value as very poor because one of the proprietors behaved... more

Paid £60 a head each for a superior room. fairly newly decorated and a nice bathroom with shower and bath but the room was very small indeed - as noted by earlier visitor - and we did wonder what made it worth £120 a night. very friendly, charming staff, nice brekker but the three-course dinner (£23) was pretty average. seafood... more

We booked a room many months in advance. We asked for en suite and were promised private facilities. I thought they were the same. They aren't! Private facilities mean a room across the corridor with a loo and bath from the 1940's. There may be good rooms but number 11 is not one of them. Whilst it was large the... more

When we stayed the weather was great, but this would be a very comfortable base in any weather. Plenty of cosy places to sit, nice rooms, and great value food in the restaurant. We were sorry to leave so soon! The only downside was the restaurant service, nearly half an hour to get a bottle of wine, and general lack... more

This was a great find. We stayed in a superior room which was very comfortable. The cosy bar area leads out onto a nice conservatory and the bar staff were very helpful and attentive. The dining room is a very pleasant place to eat, the food and the service were good too. i would stay here again quite happily. more

We stayed here one night on a stopover before heading to Lewis. The rooms were well decorated in a modern, clean way (although the overhead lights didn't seem to work), and we got a bathtub, which we loved, but the location of the room was far from ideal. We were right across the street from a saw mill that was... more
