Wonderful warm welcome for a group of wet and battered, storm-tossed cyclists. The rooms are all tastefully decorated, each with its own colour theme and we had a warm lounge with comfy sofas, books and wonderful views to ourselves. The breakfast menu had 32 items on it - and it was difficult to choose between the whisky-soaked raisin porridge or... more

Three nights with dismal weather was made more than bearable by the guest house and the couple who own it. We arrived in the car park and realised that it was the wrong time to check in. The rain was sheeting down. Next thing we knew was the owner, John, knocking on the window telling us to come in. A... more

Tasteful decoration and very comfortable beds. Nice hosts and a welcome dram. But the breakfasts were something else... beautifully prepared and great selection. The location was great, close to the magic beaches as well as the rocky east. more

We stayed 4 nights at Ceol Na Mara, and can thoroughly recommend it without reservation. John & Marlene Mitchell have renovated their home to a very high standard, and made us very welcome. Our room was modern, quiet, clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent and well presented with a huge choice of mainly local produce. The location is... more

We recently stayed at Ceol na Mara for the third time – this time with friends from the Home Counties – and were, again, given a warm Hebridean welcome. John & Marlene Mitchell can be rightly proud of their top quality guest house, situated only a few minutes’ drive from the ferry terminal, yet set in a peaceful landscape. Their... more

A bit outside of Tarbert, take advantage of the excellent cooking in this delightful B+B. French cuisine is more than welcome any time but most unexpected in this area. Although the dining room right behind the entrance lacks a bit of charm, the dining itself is well worth it. Afterwards you can relax in the lounge upstairs which boasts great... more

We knew this was going to be a good place to stay from the moment we arrived due to the warmth and naturalness of Marlene's welcome. This was reemphasised by the quality and comfort of our room (we stayed in the Green Room, featuring what was in effect an en-suite sitting room) and topped off with what must have been... more

A nice B&B near Tarbert on Harris. The host offered to collect me from the ferry as I travelled on the ferry as a foot passenger otherwise it would have been a bit of a trek up a hill to walk there. Apparently there aren't any taxis to meet evening ferries. Hosts very welcoming & pleasant. Brilliant breakfast with a... more
