Harris and Lewis aren't common destinations, and I hope it stays that way, because the wild emptiness of this place is hard to beat. My husband and I spent two days driving around the islands (which is really one big island, but the lower part is Harris and the upper is Lewis). Ardhasaig House is just a few minutes away... More

A lot of places these days pay lip service to their dedication to 'locally sourced, fresh, seasonal ingredients blah blah' but here's a place where you can taste the difference in every mouthful. From the 'Full Scottish' heart-attack special breakfast to dinner's locally caught lobster and langoustine you know you are on to something special as soon as you take... More

We stayed for four nights as part of a longer trip. We arrived tired and quite late as we'd been over to St. Kilda for the day (and not slept well as we had spent the previous night at the Hotel Hebrides) - Katie met us as we parked with a genuinely warm welcome. Our room was spotlessly clean, with... More

The food at Ardhasaig is excellent - the dinner was just delicious (truly the best rack of lamb I have ever eaten!) and the breakfast really couldn't be faulted, it was all homemade juices and jams, freshly baked bread etc etc. The rooms all have an amazing view of the Harris scenery. The host is very friendly and will make... More

Stayed four nights at this wonderful small hotel amidst stunning scenery. Katie was an excellent host with cooking skills to match. Katie and her staff went out of their ways to make us welcome and comfortable. She designed our menus to suit our individual tastes and the seafood, beef and lamb dishes were superb. The locally sourced meals would surpass... More

Katie Macaskill runs this small restaurant with rooms, and is the chef. We think the key to our excellent stay was to book well in advance and (as she requested) discuss with Katie the things we like and don't like eating. She is extremely obliging and will do her best to design a menu to suit your preferences. She has... More

Lovely little hotel, perhaps more of a restaurant with rooms. Great location, though there was some building work going on at the time, which meant that some local sheep had a free run of the hotel car park - very funny when they managed to eat all the plants and flowers! The breakfasts are something else - don't make the... More

This palce is fabulous. We stayed in the 'barn' our own little croft house - fabulously fitted out into a luxury hotel room - 20 paces from the main house. Now yes dinner is expensive (£48) and very rich food but it is 4 courses. So we only eat there one night - the other we picked up picnic food... More

We have just returned from a 10 day hebridean holiday and would like to wholeheartedly recommend Ardhasaig House on the Isle of Harris. We were made to feel very welcome by Katie who's attention to detail for her guests - both in accommodation and restaurant - is second to none. We had two wonderful meals there with menus designed around... More

I have to say that this is a very special place indeed. We were welcomed and shown to the barn which is a distinct cottage at the end of the drive. The views are stunning and the facilities in the barn are excellent with many nice touches to make you feel at home. We sat outside and gazed at the... More
