We spent 5 nights at the Cuil Lodge and we felt at home. I could write only superlatives to describe the breakfast, the home made cakes, the bed and the friendlyness of Margaret and Sandy. Thank you for your warmth and best regards from Berlin, Germany.

Being fellow B&B owners we are very critical of others. We had a wonderful stay, clean, good sleep and tasty breakfast. The hosts are what really made the place and although new to running a B&B are making a very very good job of it. You will not be disappointed.

What a delight! Sandy and Margaret are the consumate B&B hosts and this is the best we have stayed at. The email exchange to arrange the booking was an easy experience and I immediately had a sense of warmth and friendliness. This continued when we arrived. Sandy made us a cup of tea to get warm as it was cold... More

Stayed just 1 night unfortunately but worth the trip up the island. Sandy & Margaret are very welcoming, as is Staffa the dog but he's well behaved and kept out of the way once you've been introduced. Superb quality of accomodation from the beds to the bathroom, and then there's the breakfast! Wi-fi was the fastest we found. Can't recommend... More

The sunset is so beautiful! Be around to catch it! That speaks for the location itself. Room is great as we booked the bigger one. The shower head is awesome! (better than our house's) The mattress is the best we slept in our entire Scotland trip! People we met over breakfast were also raving about the mattress! Speaking of breakfast,... More

This is a true gem. Sandy and Margaret (not forgetting Staffa, their dog) make you welcome the moment you arrive. The location on Uig Bay is stunning with nothing impedes your views of water, sky and land, changing with the light and time of day. The lodge is a symphony of understated casual elegance and charm which extends to its... More

We stayed for one night only. Sandy and Margaret are very knowledgeable (especially with local wildlife) and helpful hosts (even lifting with our huge suitcases) who welcomed us immediately with tea and cake and introduced us to Staffa the wonderful wiemaraner. We enjoyed a comfortable sleep in this spotless, well-appointed and modern home with a delicious breakfast.

We stayed here with our 2 kids for 2 nights with a trip to Isle of Lewis in between. Margaret and Sandy are great hosts. It was like visiting friends. They go the extra length to provide special touches like chocolates and milk in the fridge in their beautiful rooms. Hopefully, we'll be back someday!

Without doubt Cuil Lodge is an exceptional B&B. Sandy and Margaret provide a master-class in what a B&B should and can be. Beautiful setting and rooms, but more importantly, very thoughtful, warm and welcoming execution. Great breakfasts, sharing of local knowledge for the day out and then a cup of tea and cake to welcome us back each afternoon. A... More

My husband & I had a wonderful experience staying in Sandy and Margaret's home. The attention to detail was first-class and they were the perfect hosts. Other B&Bs could learn a lot from this couple. Their home is tastefully decorated and very spacious. We were offered tea and cake on arrival and breakfast was scrummy; scrambled egg and smoked salmon... More
