We had travelled from London and arrived late and weary. We had a warm welcome and were delighted to find our room was large, stylish and well stocked with hot drinks and biscuits. We only stayed a night as we caught the ferry in the morning to uist, but our experience was of comfort, value, great food, great beers and... more

We had a very pleasant 3-night stay while visiting Skye for a wedding. Tried to book several hotels in Portree where we found the prices exorbitant and the reception personnel very unhelpful. Uig Hotel is a little gem. Very friendly owners & staff, immaculate bedroom and the restaurant menu, although limited, offered superb well presented food. All in all we... more

On the strength of reviews here, we had an evening meal here prior to sailing over Harris the following morning. We stayed at a neighbouring B&B as the hotel was full. On arrival, everything seemed very promising. Great traditional Scottish Hotel with splendid views over the Uig bay and harbour. It was fine evening, too. Our table wasn't big enough... more

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, wonderful experience. Made very welcome by the staff, nothing too much trouble. Stayed in the main hotel, overlooking the sea with wonderful views. Really excellent food including great vegetarian dishes, a very plesant stay and good value for money, we will return! more

It sure is a long drive from Finland. But Uig Hotel really made it worth the time and effort. The cozy atmosphere and warm, friendly and welcoming spirit with the most beautiful views that Scotland has to offer is simply a stunning combination. The Scottish-South African fusion style kitchen is something unique and definately not to be missed, even if... more

Beautifully sited and friendly hotel above Uig harbour. The rooms are comfortable, with in-room tea and coffee facilities, the staff charming and Wendy and Bill affable hosts. The food, particularly the seafood is well prepared and the menu reflects the hosts' South African background, with Springbok steaks and an interesting selection of SA wines on the list. Try the Isle... more

Arrived at the hotel after a long drive from London. We stayed in the Annex. The room was lovely and well appointed, bright and clean with views over the bay. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend eating in the restuarant as the food was amazing!!!. Excelllent location to drive to all areas of Skye. Will certainly... more

Considering the price of accomodation in the Uig (approx 90 UKP per room per night), I do not consider the rooms in the ugly 70s annexe to be good value for money. The rooms are sparsely furnished with small windowless bathrooms and ancient avocado-green bath/toilet units. Considering you can get bright beautiful rooms with spotless modern bathrooms in a number... more

It was a bit odd to arrive in a remote corner of Skye and find we had booked at a hotel with a South African flavour. Rooms very clean and tidy. Lovely views and I would agree that with another reviewer that it is worth the extra drive from Portree, even though there's not much else in Uig. Food was... more

Arrived after a wonderous drive up the East Coast of Skye, The old coaching Inn which I last stayed at 12 years ago still retains it Victorian ambiance. Arrived just in time fir dinner. the owners are from South Africa and this reflected in the menu. Plumped for the crocodile starter. unusual and worth trying. The Springbok was beautifully cooked.... more
