This being our fourth visit to Skye, where we have previously stayed respectively in Guest Houses, a self catering cottage and, on this occasion, a Country House Hotel. The description of the Flodigarry as Scottish 4 star, offering the perfect antidote to life on the fast lane, made it seem an ideal destination to celebrate my wife’s birthday over the... more

In March this year a group of 30 or so of us booked the Flodigarry as a night stop over on a tour of Scotland. I understand it has recently changed hands and as some of the group had been before they were concerned it may have gone downhill.... I can thoroughly recommend this hotel as a place to stay... more

I had booked this months in advance and felt that perhaps my expectations would not be realised - how wrong I was! Our whole stay was wonderful. The menu's were different everyday and the choise was very good. The morning piper was lovely. All the entertainment and walks exceeded our expectations. We were made to feel extremely welcome and at... more

Our family booked a four night stay at the Flodigarry over Christmas 2007. Further to the booking I visited the Trip Advisor site and some of the comments made me slightly worried - but I need not have been. The whole stay was wonderful. After a long journey we were greeted by a very friendly and efficient member of staff... more

After driving through the picturesque Scottish Highlands we were very impressed with the hotel on arrival. We were politely greeted by the receptionist and found the hotel was clean and impressively furnished in character with its age and setting. We stayed in the 'Torridan' flagship room which had a magnificent view across to the Scottish mainland and Torridan mountains, from... more

It was a late booking and the only room left was their best room, which was pricey but pretty cool. The scenery around here is stunning (see photo) - have a walk along the Trotternish ridge - absolutely amazing. The room was, well, quirky. It is an old house, so the windows rattle and the floors squeek and the furniture... more

Accommodation booked in August and £80 deposit actually taken whereas most hotels I believe now 'swipe' a deposit. My husband had been unwell just before we went away in October so we were really looking forward to the 'luxury' of Flodigarry and Flora Macdonald's cottage as part of our itinerary. We had been informed that the owner had been married... more

Management response from
Flodigarry, Management Team

In addressing this review it is important to establish some facts: We do take a £40 per person booking deposit; we ALWAYS inform guests that we do this. Nowhere in any of our advertising or information do we use the word ‘luxury’ we are simply a comfortable country house hotel. We do put a sign on the main door (and...

Being all over the world for business and leisure, i believe i can recognise a hotel as a good one. And this is a good hotel. The atmosphere is friendly and informal. We got a nice and warm welcome, the staff was very helpful, especially the officemanager and the German woman who worked here for a few months. As promised... more

Stayed 2 nights whilst doing " A Long Walk on the Isle of Skye". Lovely House in a fabulous location and a nice room but the "Hands Off" approach to service became almost DIY . 2 very pleasant young Asian staff were clearly under trained or informed. Poor attention to detail which was clearly below the standards implied in advertising... more

We stayed for 3 nights at the Flodigarry hotel on the "Autumn Gold" tariff. It took just over an hour to get there from the Skye bridge. The hotel was beautifully positioned just past the turn off for the village, with a lovely view of Harris and the Torridon peaks. As promised, we were upgraded on arrival as their was... more
