We did not stay at the inn but did eat in the restaurant and the food was great. The atmosphere is split between a pub side with the locals watching footie on the multiple TVs and the restaurant side which is brightly lit and more nicely decorated. For starters we had the mushroom soup and garlic scallops (which were some... more

We have just returned from a ten day holiday in Skye and the Highlands and spent five nights at the Isles Inn. I have no idea what the problem with the other reviewers was as we were completely happy. The room was was up in the roof so one side of the ceiling was a bit low, but that took... more

The Isles serves decent food and has a perfectly passable bar. I've eaten here more than once, so when I needed a place to stay on short notice, I booked with them. For thirty pounds a night, you should get a better experience. The breakfasts, unlike the dinners, are not at all good. I understand many people enjoy their full... more

We actually always, without exception, get excellent comments for our breakfast, every single item in the cooked breakfast is grilled with the exception of the egg which is fried (unless poached or scrambled is asked for) and the mushrooms which are steamed in their own juice. I actually cook breakfast and I am perfectly aware that the comment 'swimming in...

We did not stay at the hotel. We dined there and was very surprised by the high standard of the food. The pub is very popular for food we waited for the food area to open as did many others. The meals varied from normal bar food to mussels and haggis ( not on the same plate). This is definitely... more

We came to the Isles Inn for dinner and were not disappointed. The service is very friendly (which cannot be said about many other restaurants in Portree!). We were seated very quickly despite not having booked a table in advance. The food is fantastic -- the venison is simply to die for! Try it out if you visit Portree! (Can't... more

We were so looking forward to seeing Skye and felt the option of the central location of this B & B was ideal. On arrival that was the single redeeming feature, the entrance to the accommodation area was dirty and depressing and didn't bode well for what was to come. The room was small and overlooked a noisy kitchen roof... more

The hall way and stairs leading to the rooms was painted and new lights installed less than five weeks ago, it is very well lit and not dingy or dirty. The room does overlook the back garden, sorry about that! The bathroom is basic in that is has a shower cubicle, toilet and washand basin, I do apologise that it...

Wonderful time there this summer. I wasn't sure what to expect by staying in rooms above a pub, but the visit exceeded my expectations. Quaint little pub with great music on the ground floor. Room was clean and large upstairs. We also had a great meal in the restaurant. more

Just back from 2 nights stay. When booking I specifically asked for a nice room as it was our honeymoon. Photos on the website showed a bright room with 4-poster bed overlooking the square. Ours was a bit shabby and run-down. It was at the back for the pub with a normal bed and, at £80 a night, felt very... more

Four of us visited for a 3 course meal, all eating different things, and we all left happy. The place was full - no reservations allowed, if there's no space, you wait for a table to clear. The high spot was the Langoustines my partner had. I love the things but can't be bothered with all that trouble having to... more
