Stayed for two nights in August. The room was clean and spacious and the reception staff were very helpful, recommending restaurants to try in Portree (and more importantly, those to avoid). The house is about 10 minutes walk outside Portree itself, which helps to walk off any over indulgence! The Victorian toilet in the laundry room is something to behold!... more

This is a fine old manor house within easy walking distance of town. The service is excellent, serving fine breakfasts, afternoon tea, wine and beer, plus convenient, tasty, casual food in the evening. Laundry facilities on premises are most welcome. more

Love the location - near Portree for walking to restaurants/shops and with a great hill to walk, pigs to pet, and gardens to stroll. Also they accommodated an early departure and provided a hot breakfast earlier than usual. Breakfast was a bit stiff and formal, but rooms were comfortable. more

This charming b&b a short walk from Portree's center was beautiful, and filled with character. Antiques on the wall reminded me of the beloved Marlinspike Hall. The roaring fireplace in the living room was conducive to lively conversation with other guests. The breakfast was excellent and the service very good. more

We read some of the previous reviews and were a bit apprehensive about staying here but this was completely unnecessary. We chose the master twin bedded room on the first floor which was palatial and the bathroom was larger than some of the bedrooms that we've stayed in. The view was amazing - we looked down over Portree. We are... more

I have been travelling to Scotland for the last fifteen years. As I was travelling on a budget during my first trips I started out at two and three star houses and I have worked my way up by now. So, trust me, I have seen the good and the bad. Viewfield House belongs to the latter. I cannot possibly... more

Myself and two friends just spent 3 nights (it was supposed to be two but we loved it too much to leave) in Viewfield House. The house has a gorgeous drawing room, complete with blazing wood fire, that is perfect for whiling away a rainy lazy afternoon. Our bedrooms were all completely different to each other but all equally charming... more

We stayed for three nights in a double room with garden view (my guess is rooms out front are slightly more expensive). The garden view was perfectly fine by the way. About the place itself: A beautiful house, from the outside and the inside. Well-appointed rooms, enough space, enough blankets, nice old furniture (and we had a huge bathroom as... more

totally charming. I would definately stay here again. The staff were lovely and the service first class. We were made to feel very welcome. The location is perfect. This was in marked contrast to our experience at the Three Chimneys in Colbost which was really up its own ego, very strange atmosphere. Viewfield House deserves to be #1 on Skye.... more
