Stayed 7 nights in the middle of October 2015. A grand old mansion house, the remainder of a huge estate on Skye. The owner was at first a bit stuffy and upper class acting - sounded English to me not Scottish. I was with a group and my wife was along without participating. The owner told my wife he hadn’t... The view from the hotel, which is located on a top of a hill over looking the bay is beautiful. Hugh the owner of the hotel and his staff made us feel quite at home. This is his family's home for over 200 years. Lots of interesting things to look at throughout common areas. My husband is in a wheelchair... More

We unfortunately stayed only one night at Viewfield. If we would have known how lovely it is, we would have booked all our nights on the Isle of Skye there. My friend celebrated a birthday that day, and the lovely owners made us feel quite special. We stayed in the two topmost rooms and had a fantastic view of the... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a group walking holiday in the Hebrides. Our room, in the older Georgian part of the house, was large and comfortable. The bathroom, with a proper bath, was large enough to be a bedroom in some places. The meals, breakfast and dinner, were very good and generous enough... More

Stayed here for a Reunion and it was superb. The grounds are large and well kept, the views lovely and the hotel is set right in the centre of The Isle of Skye and just a short walk from Portree harbour. The hotel is a mixture of Georgian and Victorian heritages and if full of period furniture, relics of the... More

This was exactly the Scottish experience we were looking for. Viewfield House is wonderfully charming, with an interesting family history story. It's really well located with tremendous views, and the breakfast were varied and very tasty. Having stayed in B&Bs elsewhere during our trip, Viewfield House was the perfect place to stay to have a bit more privacy but still... More

Within easy walking distance of town, this was a convenient option which also provided dining. The room we stayed in (#1) was quite large with some nice period pieces. As expected, this is an older home that shows it age while offering personality that you don't get from a chain. Breakfast was of good quality and prepared to order. Dinner... More

Stayed here in June 2014 and if you want the modern sleek Accor experience don't come here! This is a country house converted to a hotel and the walls are adorned with pictures of the family ancestors, hunting trophies and weaponry- there are book shelves filled with old books and the furniture is from another age. The rooms are quaint... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as a part of a group. House is old, furniture are old, but very charming and one is visiting an old family home. Nice and welcoming staff, friendly and helpful owner. Our room was big and spacious, and everything nice and clean. Only thing we didn't like was the wall-to-wall carpet in... More

Stayed for 4 nights and would love to go back. Hugh is a great owner and a pleasure to speak with. Staff was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. House itself is a treasure and loved sitting in the lounge with a drink before the fire and the dining room for breakfast. Actually kind of wish we had a rainy day... More
