Travelling through Skye on our honeymoon we stayed a couple of nights at Viefield House. The house is fantastic, the room was wonderful and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The bottle of bubbly was an incredibly kind touch, the food was great, but beware of eating too much of the delicious breakfast, and we felt... More

My travelling companion and I booked five nights at this hotel in late April, despite the several uncomplimentary comments on Tripadvisor. Since the hotel is listed in the Alistair Sawday Special Places to Stay, I decided to ignore the negative reviews. This was a huge mistake as the comments on TA reflected our treatment at the hands of the owner... More

We spent our honeymoon here and wanted a quiet, but traditional hotel. We were not disappointed. this establishment is quiet, it has all the Scotland images you think of in a hotel. Food is very good, and good size portions. We had the nursery room, it was cosy and just right for our nights their. A guest lounge, where you... More

Lovely old house, great restaurant, best fish I ever had, sweet couple sort of running it. It is high in a hill overlooking grounds and water and views from Room 8'were gorgeous. Nice big comfy bed and bath with sitting area, quiet and just lovely.

Viewfield House is the perfect place to stay if you want to get off the treadmill of life! The room was very comfortable and I can live without a TV, the lounge with the log fire was very welcoming and cosy with family photos etc - very easy to fall asleep! The food and service was first class and our... More

I wish we had more time at Viewfield House. This inn is absolutely gorgeous. The candlelight dinner was the best meal we had in our whole week in Scotland, and breakfast did not disappoint either. The location seems like it would be ideal for getting into Portree; unfortunately we were too comfortable at the inn, so we never ventured away.... More

the room was good and the bathroom fine albeit a bit old fashioned. Breakfast was good, the girl who seemed to do everything from checking in/out, breakfast, drinks etc etc was a marvel and seemed to run the place in her own. If you want a place to stay with plenty character this is the hotel for you ! About... More

We really wanted to like Viewfield House, but it just felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming to us. Pros for us: It's in a beautiful location and is an impressive big old stone mansion fairly close to town. Our room was large with a great view, comfy beds and plenty of hangers in the closet. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Parking is... More

We had booked 2 nights stay at Viewfield House on Skye; this is in a quiet but good location just outside Portree, with parking at the hotel. I found the building rather dark and dismal, but our room on the second floor was clean and comfortable. The food and service were both excellent and the Lord was a charming host...and... More

This is a beautiful Manor House set in the woodlands about a 10 minutes easy walk to the centre port area of Portree. We we greeted by a charming young lady who showed us to our room which was on the top floor up many steep stairs. (She even helped with carrying the baggage to our room). The room was... More
