This was exactly the Scottish experience we were looking for. Viewfield House is wonderfully charming, with an interesting family history story. It's really well located with tremendous views, and the breakfast were varied and very tasty. Having stayed in B&Bs elsewhere during our trip, Viewfield House was the perfect place to stay to have a bit more privacy but still... More

Within easy walking distance of town, this was a convenient option which also provided dining. The room we stayed in (#1) was quite large with some nice period pieces. As expected, this is an older home that shows it age while offering personality that you don't get from a chain. Breakfast was of good quality and prepared to order. Dinner... More

Stayed here in June 2014 and if you want the modern sleek Accor experience don't come here! This is a country house converted to a hotel and the walls are adorned with pictures of the family ancestors, hunting trophies and weaponry- there are book shelves filled with old books and the furniture is from another age. The rooms are quaint... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as a part of a group. House is old, furniture are old, but very charming and one is visiting an old family home. Nice and welcoming staff, friendly and helpful owner. Our room was big and spacious, and everything nice and clean. Only thing we didn't like was the wall-to-wall carpet in... More

Stayed for 4 nights and would love to go back. Hugh is a great owner and a pleasure to speak with. Staff was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. House itself is a treasure and loved sitting in the lounge with a drink before the fire and the dining room for breakfast. Actually kind of wish we had a rainy day... More

Nice stay, friendly owner, good dinner, quiet place! The House is quite big with all the collections, we enjoy the walk inside the house. Viewfield house is not a type of modern style B&B, but it indeed gives you another experience of staying a big house.

It is so nice to be welcomed by the owner of a lovely house that has been in the family for generations. Although the style is Victorian, the quality of the decor reflects recent decoration and very high standards of cleanliness. Bedrooms are roomy and welcoming. Lounge is very warm and what's not to like about ringing the buzzer and... More

We stayed for a couple of nights in May. The staff were charming and very helpful, and the owner went above and beyond what is expected on the hospitality front. Really comfortable room and the food is delicious. Highly recommended.

Travelling through Skye on our honeymoon we stayed a couple of nights at Viefield House. The house is fantastic, the room was wonderful and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The bottle of bubbly was an incredibly kind touch, the food was great, but beware of eating too much of the delicious breakfast, and we felt... More

My travelling companion and I booked five nights at this hotel in late April, despite the several uncomplimentary comments on Tripadvisor. Since the hotel is listed in the Alistair Sawday Special Places to Stay, I decided to ignore the negative reviews. This was a huge mistake as the comments on TA reflected our treatment at the hands of the owner... More
