This hotel had great amenites and you were made to feel very welcome. The breakfasts were good and the staff very considerate. The hotel itself was interesting with many antiques and items of historical interest, set in large gardens. You can sleep and eat well here as well as relax i fine settings. more

We read some of the previous reviews and were a bit apprehensive about staying here but this was completely unnecessary. We chose the master twin bedded room on the first floor which was palatial and the bathroom was larger than some of the bedrooms that we've stayed in. The view was amazing - we looked down over Portree. We are... more

I have been travelling to Scotland for the last fifteen years. As I was travelling on a budget during my first trips I started out at two and three star houses and I have worked my way up by now. So, trust me, I have seen the good and the bad. Viewfield House belongs to the latter. I cannot possibly... more

Myself and two friends just spent 3 nights (it was supposed to be two but we loved it too much to leave) in Viewfield House. The house has a gorgeous drawing room, complete with blazing wood fire, that is perfect for whiling away a rainy lazy afternoon. Our bedrooms were all completely different to each other but all equally charming... more

We stayed for three nights in a double room with garden view (my guess is rooms out front are slightly more expensive). The garden view was perfectly fine by the way. About the place itself: A beautiful house, from the outside and the inside. Well-appointed rooms, enough space, enough blankets, nice old furniture (and we had a huge bathroom as... more

totally charming. I would definately stay here again. The staff were lovely and the service first class. We were made to feel very welcome. The location is perfect. This was in marked contrast to our experience at the Three Chimneys in Colbost which was really up its own ego, very strange atmosphere. Viewfield House deserves to be #1 on Skye.... more

Someone here called the place quirky but a must. I completely support and agree with this statement. The place is like an old castle with a bunch of stuffed animal trophies, family portraits, oriental rugs, and a wonderful sitting room with a roaring fireplace which totally saved one rainy and miserable day. We really enjoyed hanging out on overstuffed furniture,... more

We stayed at Viewfield House for three nights in August. The accommodations were quite nice, and the staff were, for the most part, very welcoming. The one exception was, oddly, the owner. I must concur with the other reviewers who found him to be condescending at best, and rude at worst. He seems to be conflicted (being charitable here) about... more

Stayed one night, wished it could have been more. This is a beautiful home that feels and looks like a castle. The house is filled with many interesting decorative items that add to its character. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the town center. Great breakfast, friendly staff, highly recommended. more
