The bar offers a good variety of food. Prices are average for a bar. It is family friendly and there is a children's menu. The Quality of food was very good. Staff service was excellent. The hotel is 5 min walk from the main square in portree. There is a nice view over the harbour across the street.

Booked this hotel for one night prior to going to Harris. Staff very friendly but that's as far as it goes. No wifi, no phone, TV not working, massive stains on the carpet, wallpaper on the ceiling of the bathroom peeling off and all for £165 a night! The only positive was that the towels were snow white! I can't... More

The old owner went bust. No wonder. The hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment. The rooms are not clean, the furniture is very old and the carpets seem to contain more dirt than fabric. Could be a fine place, once the new owner decides to invest some money.

I rated this hotel above excellent and the best hotel in Skye in February, gone badly down hill since then.the barman with the beard is holding this rapidly sinking ship afloat, unfortunately he can't keep bailing it out by himself forever.the line.we expected wifi 2 weeks ago doesn't wash anymore,I needed wifi for business that is why my two colleagues and I... Stayed 1 light last night, it sounds like everyone gets the same story then - wifi and phones have just gone down! Even the temporary one didn't work! It is easier to list the good points! Staff were all nice and helpful, everything was clean, breakfast was fairly good but slightly limited, how can you offer a full Scottish breakfast... More

We visited Skye by train and ferry so wanted to stay in the town, the only accommodation available was this hotel, everywhere else seemed to be booked although I was booking three months in advance. We had a large room and bathroom but paying £150 a night I was expecting something wonderful but it was a very ordinary room with... More

Five of us dropped in for dinner early on a Sunday evening without reservations. Portree was hopping as the weather was unseasonably gorgeous and many places were full or closed. Food was excellent - best fish and chips we had in two weeks of travel in Scotland. Service was surly. We tried to overlook it because we could tell they... More

Stayed for 2 nights in June 2014. Where do I start- limited car park, wifi not working properly, no elevator, tiny room, overheated. We had booked months ago, the owners went into liquidation ( so I lost all my prepaid money and the booking), the new owners offered me a room but I had still lost nearly A$500. The new... More

We were very disappointed with this hotel. I had booked a room months ago then called to add another room as my in-laws were joining us for our trip to Skye. I was told that only a deluxe room was available at a price much higher than our original room, as I believed it would be great I booked it.... More
