Make sure you are going down to the waterfront to find the hotel. But once there it's a fun and funky place especially if you take up most of the rooms and eat in at the restaurant. It can be a challenge for strollers and those who have a hard time getting around because it's multi-leveled and is always going... More

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at The Rosedale which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending it as a base for sightseeing on Skye. Ask for a room with a view. Superb!

Lovely view overlooking the harbour but the building is rather a rabbit warren. Our room had rather a damp smell and the bathroom was so small that it was difficult to use the toilet sitting down. Bar was in a large dismal room and had a very makeshift feel, not helped by the somewhat erratic opening and closing and staff... More

3 old fishing cottages converted into the hotel. Lots of stairs leading to lots of places. Lovely view from hotel room. Food fantastic, great seafood platter. Good selection for breakfast. Bar closes really early, so no good if you want to sample the whiskies.

You are greeted with a glass of sherry or dram of whiskey when you first arrive. That gives you a good indication of how great your stay will be. The owner Paul, and deskclerk Neil, were both very friendly and helpful during our time there. Our room, #18, had a great view of the bay which is on all the... More

The hotel is chopped up into a maze of staircases and hallways (a nightmare for the staff carrying guest luggage). Apparently the hotel consists of three separate buildings which have been haphazardly joined to form this warren of guest rooms. The hallways smell of mildew, although, luckily, the smell didn't seep into the room. My room was on street level... More

Stayed here 2 nights on our 3-day Skye tour. We had great view of the water, room was more like a well worn B&B but pleasant enough and clean. Staff extremely attentive and helpful, carrying luggage to our room (which was no easy feat) plus made reservations for us at a nearby restsurant while we were out and about that... More

We booked only the same day as we stayed and got the last room so were grateful for a place to stay. The staff were welcoming throughout the stay and offered a complimentary drink on arrival. Our room was small but had a lovely view of the harbour which is lit throughout the night making an attractive scene. The included... More

Its a small quaint hotel, run by a small team of enthusiastic and very helpful and friendly staff. The service is prompt and the restaurant quite famous. The rooms are a decent size, we had a four poster en-suite room which was on the ground floor - over looking the harbour. The toilets are modern and the amenities all work.... More

Stayed overnight in mid-September. The Rosedale is nothing special, but like everywhere on Skye was fully booked. Our room was very tiny, but had a wonderful view of the bay in Portree. Finding your way around the hotel is akin to being in a maze - up a flight of stairs, down a flight of stairs, through a door then... More
