We stayed for one night and had an enjoyable stay. The room was adequate for our needs and the staff were helpful and pleasant. The next time we are staying in Portree we would have no hesitation booking here again.

Loved my stay at the Tongadale very clean and rooms were just what we needed good size bedroom and bathroom. The hotel is in good central location in portree. Staff were very friendly two members of staff that were on when we were there made our stay even more memorable Ellenor and Tom every hotel/pub should have members of staff... More

Arriving late in the afternoon with the town buzzing and no booking, I was grateful that this hotel had a room available for the night. OK, the entrance is not very prepossessing and the stair very narrow, but it has a quaint charm. My bedroom was perfectly adequate; comfy, warm and clean, with a shower room just slim enough to... If you are looking for a hotel that is in the heart of Portree, you couldn't ask for much better. However the hotel is basic, the rooms and bathrooms small and there are no lifts. On the positive side the service was friendly and food good. This hotel has a lively bar that's a great place to enjoy a drink... More

We had no hotel reservation and we managed to get one night in this hotel and one in the Calendonian hotel (they are 5 seconds walk from each other). The location is very good: right at the center and near the harbour. The room was OK, pretty clean (including the shower and the toilets). Breakfast was good. Also there's a... More

We hadn't booked in Portree and found rooms at this hotel. The rooms are small, but I was pleased to find firm beds. The bathrooms were also pokey. The rooms still have old box style tvs. However the room was clean. Included in price was hot breakfast. The wifi was only accessible in the bar area and was intermittent. Good... More

The Tongadale seems to to have a poor reputation which is not deserved. This is not the Ritz, its not a 5 star hotel, it is a small local budget hotel, the rooms are not huge, the beds are comfortable, there is an en-suite toilet and shower, what more do you need! You access the hotel via the bar, there... More

We visited this hotel for one night on an Insight tour. We were not sure what to expect, as were told a few days before that we were unable to take our suitcases with us, instead we had to pack an overnight bag for this one night stay. There were lots of stairs levels and passage ways, so we understood... More

given the location - and the size of our group , this was probably the best option available to us. But it is a very basic, old hotel. Lots of steps with no lift. Not enough room for a suitcase. Shower very small, larger people may not fit in it. We had a room up in the attic, which was... More
