We just returned from 2 weeks in Scotland, and 2 of those nights were at the MacKinnon Country House Hotel. The location is convenient, it's just across the bridge when you first drive over to Skye. We stayed at this place because we needed an additional single room and this inn offered that, many do not. The first thing that... more

We are so sorry to hear that this couple were not entirely happy with our hotel. The reference to a lack of hospitality is very challenging to us. Normally in every indepdent survey e.g, Who Cares Wins etc we score well above average. Hospitiality is normally seen as one of our strengths. It may well be that we were busy...

Well what can I say.....this hotel was everything and more. The staff must have a policy of going "above and beyond the call of duty". The rooms were excellent and comfortable, the food is, in words, "to die for", Ian the chef is a culinary master when it comes to the food and is a very pleasant chap. Can thoroughly... more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in August to cellebrate our first wedding anniversary and I must say we had the perfect stay. Kyleakin is the first village you come to once you're over the Skye Bridge and we felt it was a great base for seeing the island. The village of Kyleakin itself is very peaceful... more

Wanted to go somewhere a bit special on our last day of our holiday, and the hotel looks beautiful from the drive with rhodedendrons in full bloom. The room was perfectly fine, clean, fresh and bright with all the required facilities. The dining room was bright with an all glass surround looking out into the garden. Dinner was a problem.... more

We really appreciate the comments about the nice setting. We regret the comments about the food. Skirlie is a very traditional Scottish dish made of potato, oats and onions. I accept that it is not to everyone's taste. As an addition to the main dish on the plate skirlie is not mentioned. It is a rare restaurant that includes every...

We only had dinner here but that was enough. Most of the food was from a can although they pretend it's fresh. The few fresh items were either totally overcooked or had been lying about for ages. When we complained the staff were abusive and swore at us. A complete rip off at £27 more

Perhaps the only thing we share in common with the complainats is that the experience will remain in our memories for a very long time. Upon arrival we were told by one of the complaiants that they had been "drinking whisky all day". I was alerted to this and warned that we could expect trouble. We were not disappointed. We...

We had a really enjoyable, friendly stay in the Mackinnon Country House Hotel. A family owned and run hotel gave us a wonderful home from home with awsome views and wonderful food with a great selection of wines. Very good place to stay with lots to do for families and couples. Very easy to get around and not too far... more

We stayed in the MacKinnon for three days due to our wedding at the Eilean Donan Castle. The welcome was warm and friendly, diner was excellent. We felt as we have been there for many times in the past, whilst we had only been there once before. In February of 2005 we have visited the MacKinnon again for three days.... more

I was advised that the hotel is currently undergoing redecoration, with each room being named after a Scottish clan and outfitted with the appropriate tartan soft furnishings, etc. My room was obviously in its pre-redecoration state but I could find no fault with it. Lovely little single room at the front of the hotel containing everything I could need, including... more
