Arrived at hotel around 2pm and was greeted by Ian who I found to be a very sweet and cheerful man. He explaned that breakfast stopped at 9.30am or 9.00 I cant remember now and explained about the honesty bar where you could help yourself to what you wanted and was trusted to note down the drinks on a sheet... more

Upon arrival we were told that the chef was sick and the hotel would not be providing any evening meals. We therefore had to get back in the car and try to find a restaurant. Not so easy in this town so best to go back over the bridge to Kyle of Localsh. During the evening we saw four/five members... more

Our stay at MacKinnon House was wonderful. Our host, Ian, was an extremly warm and welcoming person. We particularly enjoyed our conversation with him in the hotel's cozy pub. The rooms in the lodge were some of the largest we experienced on our trip, and were very nicely done. Light pine trim in the rooms as well as in the... more

My two night stay at the Mackinnon House was part of a tour of the West Coast of Scotland. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere - pre dinner drinks by the cosy fire in the lounge, personal recommendations about food from the chef, a chat with our host and hostess. The food was excellent and fairly priced. My room was spacious... more

Visiting the Isle of Skye on business in October of 06 we had the great pleasure of staying at the Mackinnon Country House Hotel. As is generally the case with family run hotels, the welcome was warm and friendly, and service throughout my stay was excellent. I am not a food expert, but I do know good food from bad,... more

This is the second time this year we have stayed at the MacKinnon. After our first enjoyable break in the summer we just had to come back for more. The food was absolutely first class throughout or stay and we found the staff to be most friendly & attentive. As a result, we have decided to have our wedding reception... more

I disagree with the last reviewer. I just arrived back from Scotland and stayed here for two nights as part of our tour. The inside and outside of this hotel was immaculate. Our room was at the front corner of the hotel and it was amazingly quiet. It was large, which I rather enjoyed compared to some other places we... more

We just returned from 2 weeks in Scotland, and 2 of those nights were at the MacKinnon Country House Hotel. The location is convenient, it's just across the bridge when you first drive over to Skye. We stayed at this place because we needed an additional single room and this inn offered that, many do not. The first thing that... more

We are so sorry to hear that this couple were not entirely happy with our hotel. The reference to a lack of hospitality is very challenging to us. Normally in every indepdent survey e.g, Who Cares Wins etc we score well above average. Hospitiality is normally seen as one of our strengths. It may well be that we were busy...

Well what can I say.....this hotel was everything and more. The staff must have a policy of going "above and beyond the call of duty". The rooms were excellent and comfortable, the food is, in words, "to die for", Ian the chef is a culinary master when it comes to the food and is a very pleasant chap. Can thoroughly... more
