This place had a lot of character, in a good way that fit with Skye. Our room was actually in a separate building from the main house and was nice and quiet. The only thing I didn't like was it was one of those places where the two beds are pushed together to make one. The common areas are awesome.... more

Rooms crowded, creaky, and rustic, although basically serviceable and, I'm sure, ever-so-charming if you're into that sort of thing. No A/C, no window screens, therefore flying insects in room. Set in a pretty garden at the roundabout just across the bridge onto the island. Walking distance to the little village of Kyleakin. Very good food at breakfast and dinner; service... more

From the hearty greeting to the great kitchen, the stay was most enjoyable and welcome. On a three day Highland Experience tour and arranged to stay at the Mackinnon Hotel. Wonderful warm surroundings and rooms, fire in the fireplace and sparkling glass and silver in the dining room. Great little inhouse bar. Thanks to Ian and Carol. more

I can't say enough about this wonderful hotel. The low key, relaxed atmosphere was refreshing and this place quickly felt like home. The room was a little small for my taste at first but it was well appointed and free wi-fi is available in the rooms but the real highpoint was the large, newly remodeled bathroom with the large whirlpool... more

We had a lovely two night stay here whilst touring Scotland. The hotel is charming and the food is wonderful. The chef is a real gem - he went out of his way to prepare food for us as we are vegetarian. The food was so beautifully presented that I took photographs of it to remind us how special it... more

Have just returned from a three night stay in the Mackinnon House Hotel. We were disappointed with the stay as there was little heating in the hotel. The hotel was conyinually cold with no heating in the dining room. The menu presented was not as shown on their web site. A plus side was that the hotel was well decorated.... more

Only went here for dinner but what a great place to eat. The food was 1st class and presentation was a picture. Ian the owner/chef even took time to come and speak to us as we where leaving even though they where very busy. We even over heard the next table passing comment on the presentation as it was not... more

Stayed here as part of a tour group. Ian and his wife gave us a warm welcome and wonderful dinners. We had a room in the carriage house in back of the main hotel, and actually had three real beds for three people! This is a family friendly place, complete with a charming honesty bar and a loving family dog.... more

This hotel really is a hidden gem. We were touring so could only stay one night but I will certainly be back. Lovely hotel, nice rooms, great common areas and the best bit was the food! The staff are also very good and pleasant. The owner is the chef and the food really is to die for. It was certainly... more

My daughter of 3 and I flew up to Inverness from East Midlands and made the two hour journey by car to Skye. Stunning scenery on the way and well worth a stop off to see the Eilean Donan Castle, about 9 miles before you hit Kyle of Lochalsh. Mackinnon House Hotel is very comfortable, and the room we had... more
