We paid £120 for one night bed and breakfast. We were booked into the 'new extension' I use this term very loosely as, like mentioned before it was akin to staff quarters and very cheaply done. On arrival the woman at reception was possibly having a bad day as she didn't welcome us with a smile and very few words... More

This hotel seems to be somewhat of a faded glory. We were initially impressed with the building, however little things such as inadequate wifi connection and no guest information booklets provided in the rooms meant that there were little frustrations from the start. Breakfast was quite nice, served in lovely dining room with very cheerful and obliging staff. It is... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 16th - 21st June. We were less than impressed. Our room was in the "New extension", which was not new and looked as if it had been used as staff quarters. The room was quite large and was very dark with a view out to a steep banking. Only half of... More

Let me start out by saying we only had dinner, no rooms. We had a guest house up the road and we were looking for dinner on our walk back into town. The MacKinnon had their menu posted out front for "walk-ins". We were last served and felt very rushed. The menus came, we immediately decided on a wine, the... More

If you read some of the more recent less favourable reviews of this hotel the underlying theme will be the same, The hotel is dated and in need of renovation/a good clean. This is a undisputable fact! However i have to say that despite this, this really isn't an awful place to stay. Treat the stroppy 1 star reviews with... More

I chose this hotel because it offered a complimentary whisky and shortbread on arrival and I thought that sounded welcoming. What we got was a grumpy receptionist, no whisky and 2 small shortbread biscuits with the tea and coffee supplies in our room (which weren’t replenished after day one – we stayed four nights). At £102 per night I was... More

First visit to Isle of Skye, would definitively return. . Top notch customer service, amazing staff and exquisitely kept surroundings, are only but a few of the merits that distinguishes the MacKinnon Country House Hotel. We Stayed two nights.  Our room was comfortable and spotless . We had dinner one night, the food was great and service was impeccable. Breakfast... More

Well, we were desperate , but 120.00 a night for a twin room was taking advantage. The room was in need of redecoration and could best be described as dingy. After a long day travelling a nice relaxing time in the bar would have been ideal - having to chase down a member of staff every time you wanted to... More

We slept here and there were bugs swarming at night inside that were biting us in our bathroom and bedroom. The food is terrible and they barely have any options. Also, they touched and folded our clothes. I find it unacceptable for staff to touch or move personal belongings. When we returned they had also changed furniture in and out... More
