We arrived and were shown to our room by a strange little lady. The family suite (2 rooms sharing a bathroom) were on the slightly shabby side with dated furniture, but clean enough. They were very small. The complimentary nip of whisky and shortbread mentioned were absent! Room facilities are minimal and well below what I would expect for the... More

Arrived here and had to phone number to make sure I was at the right place as there was nothing to invite you into hotel. Was greeted by very dis-interested woman who barely could muster a smile. Was not asked to check in and only muttered something about wi-fi password, told nothing about breakfast or dinner etc. Came down for... More

The sink and light in the bathroom were broken and the shower was not cleaned. The rooms are old and smelly. When we woke up at 7 in the morning to take a shower (since breakfast starts at 8), the bathroom was freezing. Unfortunately the heating could not be turned on an hour earlier for the next day. The staff... More

This is a very friendly hotel that allows dogs to stay. Rooms and facilities were very good and staff very friendly. The resident dog ('Moss') is friendly. Dogs allowed in bar but not restaurant. Will very happily return. The 'woman' is not miserable but a little quirky and I'm sure wouldn't take well (but not be rude!) to unpleasant guests.... More

We arrived at our destination when it was cold windy and raining, got all our bags and headed to reception where the most miserable woman i have ever met told us to get back in our car and drive round the back, so back out to the wind and rain with our bags got to our room which smelled damp... We had two nights and will no doubt return again. We were warm and comfortable even though we stayed in November Our rooms were lovely and I liked the whisky left for us to try. The food was amazing we had dinner both nights and the standard was so high very good indeed. The breakfast was the nicest that I... More

My wife and I arrived somewhat early (3.00 pm), but thought that we would try and book in. The lady on reception was efficient and courteous but hardly welcoming. We went to our room and were immediately disappointed with the run down decor. We had an internal bathroom with no windows which was dimly lit with a grossly underpowered bulb... More

We arrived on a wet and dark Saturday and were met by a very uncommunicative and not very welcoming lady. We were in the Lodge, at the back of the building. The Family Room was awful - a hole in the wall, poor finishing to the edging, a futon that fell apart with exposed nails and worst of all, really... More

We chose the country house because of the family connection with the Mackinnon clan. The first thing that was obviousely lacking was any form of recognition that our surname was the same, no comment whatsoever was made at check in or by any other staff throughout the duration of our visit. As mentioned in other reviews the property itself though... More

We visited in April of 2012 and I am ashamed it has take me this long to post a review. We travelled to Skye to trace the roots of our family history as part of the Mackinnon clan and the wonderful hosts of Mackinnon House Hotel went to great lengths to ensure we enjoyed our stay. As it was my... More
