Stayed Monday to Friday with a friend, two escaping Mums, each leaving four teenagers at home, and boy, what a tonic. Fabulous welcome with everything homemade by Rosemary, even the bread and jams. Cut glass, linen, siver and porcelain are the order of the day with stimulating conversation round the houseparty dinner table. Afternoon tea and breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the gardens and Loch Dunvegan Would have been wasted on teenagers and lacking intimacy for honeymooners but for us two friends it was perfect. Beautiful house in beautiful setting with plenty of advice planning day trips from Donald's daily doodles. Don't miss the seals at Dunvegan Castle, the wild walk to the lighthouse or gannets diving at the coral beach. At the end of the day Donald hangs up coats above the boiler and stuffs damp walking boots with newspaper leaving them beside it to dry overnight - what service. And on a really wet afternoon there's a library stuffed with books. Lovely, really... more
