I have delayed writing this review for 2 weeks to allow my initial feelings to settle. We did arrive rather wet after several hours cycling but my view remains the same : this hotel is shabby and unwelcoming. The web site gives no clue that major expenditure is required to achieve a reasonable standard both in the public areas and... more

This was my third annual visit to Duntulm castle hotel and again it has been an absolute pleasure. I have reviewed this hotel previously so I won't repeat my previous comments - suffice to say that the welcome is as warm and friendly as ever and the views are still the best I have seen in Skye, possibly in Scotland.... more

Myself and my wife decided to escape for a few relaxing days without kids and spend time taking in some stunning scenery, enjoying some good food and having a few drinks, The Duntulm Castle Hotel delivered in spades. Kevin, the owner, really goes out of his way to make sure you are made to feel welcome with no request too... more

In Sept. we stayed at the Duntulm Castle Hotel and had a seaview room on the second floor in the main hotel. It was truly the most magnificent view we had on our entire month-long trip! My husband said our room window should have a picture frame around it. Our view of the ocean included the ruins of the MacDonald... more

We had high expectations with plans to stay several nights in this part of the Isle of Skye. We ended up leaving after one night. The hotel was dark, smelly, illequipped and needs serious money spent on it to match the view it offers. Whilst the room was of good size, the bathroom was tiny with a poor shower and... more

This hotel needs a LOT of work. The floor was soaking due to a leak, the windows in the room didn't close, the shower was filthy, the electrics blew when we turned on the TV. The corridors were dark and there were a few 'random' rooms which looked like a dumping ground for furniture which didn't have a home. And... more

Spent one night here. It needs a great deal of time and money spent on it to upgrade the facilities. Our room was very tired, with a shower that refused to work. The floor in the shower cubicle/room was also soft and spongy with what looked like mould growing from the corner and the extractor fan needed a good clean.... more

Kevin was friendly and informative. He spent 20 minutes showing us around and giving us information about the wildlife we might see and about nearby hikes. He regularly takes groups out hiking and so is very helpful in that regard. This is an old building but well maintained. We had a room in the annex which seemed to be a... more

We stayed here for two nights and loved the place. The weather was a bit damp so we thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace in the pub. The food was amazing - the best we had for our two weeks in Scotland. Kevin went out of his way to make us feel welcome and provided us with a map and assistance in... more

Whoever coined the phrase ‘Location, Location, Location’ must have had Duntulm Castle Hotel in mind. It has breathtaking views across the sea towards Lewis and Harris and the sunsets were outstanding. Boutique establishment it is not, but Kevin is a genial host and more than makes up for the rather tired décor and smallish rooms. What’s more he keeps a... more
