We had a long drive from Loch Lomond to get to The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By and the whole trip was a surprise for our honeymoon. On the approach I was getting a tad nervous as the area is so remote I wondered what our destination would be like and whether my wife (still getting used to saying... more

Dear Harry040709, Thank you for sending these lovely compliments about your recent honeymoon here. I am very pleased that we lived-up to your expectations and that you were able to chill out and enjoy a romantic break with your new wife. Weddings take a lot of organising and honeymoons should be all about relaxing and enjoying each other's company in...

Arrived for lunch on Thurs 2nd July to be met with the news there was a power cut. Had just driven for an hour and a half from Knock bay in Sleat, through torrential rain. Offered cold choices on menu, none really suitable. Teenage son gutted, meal was to be the highlight of his dull holiday. Made the mistake of... more

Dear Coalfire, I am so sorry this happened on "your" special day. The power cut was as much of a shock to us as it was for you and your son. Let me explain. We were all ready to begin lunch service , with a few people already seated in the restaurant when the power went off. (Despite our location,...

We first came across The Three Chimneys over ten years ago, when it was a restaurant sans rooms. We fell in love with the idyllic setting on the edge of Loch Dunvegan & were charmed by Eddie & Shirley Spears, the lovely owners (even though Eddie 'corrupted' us with an introduction to Henschke's Mount Edelstone Shiraz.....) . We travel a... more

Dear High_Ground_hIKER, I can't believe you have out-written me!! More wonderful words than I can believe. I am on the verge of tears at your fabulous review. Thank you so very much from everyone here at The Three Chimneys. You have got it absolutely right - including the photographs from the French windows of your room. We are so pleased...

My partner and myself stayed in Portree and took the 45 min drive to the resturaunt, over a single track road in some of the most beautiful scenery i have ever seen, it was worth the drive. The service was excillent, the staff were very attentive and polite, seeing to our every need. There was a great selection of delishious... more

Thank you very much for writing your review and I hope that one day, you will have another opportunity to eat in the restaurant. If you...

Four family we went for dinner. Price was £55 each, coffee £5 and wine we chose a merlot for £29 which was excellent choice. After eating all round the world I can say this is the best food I have had, and the service was excellent. We had a pre starter of fish, wow the spring zappy flavours, I had... more

I am very surprised by the latest reviews of this truly outstanding restaurant with rooms. Having just come from the Howard in Edinburgh (top hotel) and eaten at Martin Wishart the day before my arrival, I hoped the Three Chimneys would live up to my expectations. I'm please to report that it did and more. If you are looking for... more

Stayed one night. Dinner - we had the standard 3 course menu for £55 - excellent. However if you're an upper-end foodie then to our minds Martin Wishart in Edinburgh - similar price - beats it easily. And for sheer enjoyment frankly we preferred the Loch Bay restaurant at Stein, Waternish. Staff charming and courteous but we agree with the... more

Dear Armadillo, Thank you for all the excellent, positive comments that you made in your review. It is such a shame therfore, that you have rated us almost entirely upon your view about the price that we charge for our spacious, mulit-award-winning, 5-Star accommodation. Our website publishes a great deal of detail and photographs and anyone who decides to stay...

Sorry but go for the food not the room. It's a shame that they take advantage of the absolutely superb restaurant and its isolated location to charge you an arm and a leg for what is a pine portakabin. Afterall, its not like you could have stayed elsewhere, although I'd rather have pitched a tent in the restaurants back garden.... more

Management response from

Dear Nicnax, We are hardly a pine portakabin! I agree our beautiful location would have tempted you to camp in the garden, but we could have easily recommended our local campsite to you when you booked your accommodation with us, if this is what you would have preferred. Our front office team spend a great deal of time helping visitors...

We recently spent 2 nights at the Three Chimneys and, whilst all the staff were excellent, the overall experience was disappointing. The setting is glorious but sadly the rooms are not. They are old fashioned, quite souless and in need of a major re-vamp. The beds are not comfortable, the linen is not luxurious and the pillows are cheap and... more

Dear SallycoooperOxford, Thank you for your review and comments about your stay with us in June. We recently had a two day trip to Skye, with evening dinner in the Three Chimney's Restaurant a highlight of the trip. From the moment you step into the restaurant you are greeted by friendly welcoming staff, and although this is a high class establishment, everyone seemed to feel comfortable in the restaurant. My apprehensions before visiting were whether I... more
