sadly Vivian, the owner of this hotel made me cry at 5 months pregnant while on honeymoon! we asked to leave the morning after our first night, cutting our stay of 3 nights to 1 as we had water pouring down the wall, out from our light switch. we informed her at 9pm when we discovered it and her response... more

We booked before reading the reviews here, and then became very apprehensive! In the event our stay wasn't horrendous, but it was definitely the worst place we stayed on our holiday in Mull and Iona. It's quite depressing that places like this are still around in Scotland - I'm Scottish and it doesn't give a good impression to overseas visitors.... more

We arrived whilst the owner was out. Her daughter took our payment for our one night (Thank goodness) stay. Our room was £75 for a pokey little twin room at the back of the hotel with a minute bathroom squeezed in the corner. In the morning we met the owner. She ignored us as she seated other people for breakfast,... more

Wish I'd read the reviews on here before booking - but we went last minute and were stuck for a place to stay. In retrospect, we could've found places in otther towns nearby such as Dervaig and I'd advise risking that rather than paying good money to stay in this appalling establishment. From the moment we arrived and the "charming"... more

Two friends and I stayed here in April for two nights. The rooms were clean enough but what happened was very strange. On the second night there was a 'no vacancy' sign on the front door so we assumed that the guest house was full (the Carnaburg is more like a guest house than a hotel). The following morning I... more

As per the website there is a resident's lounge, dining room, patio, bar, welcoming service and restaurant. Myself and 2 members of my family had 2 rooms 1 x twin; 1 x small double. The small double was tiny for 1. We stayed 2 nights and would have left on arrival had we not been worried about upsetting the eldest... more

Own website could be challenged under Trades Description Act. We arrived at scheduled time to be greeted by a surly and unpleasant Vivien. Short, sharp response of 'I don't have a chef' followed enquiry about booking dinner in her 'licensed restaurant'. Cold shoulder, followed by slammed door, was response to attempt to use 'spacious residents' lounge'. Access to the 'intimate,... more

When I went to recce our location 2 months before our arrival the woman running this hotel seemed lovely, the prices were reasonable, the rooms were clean, the views were lovely and I felt comfortable enough that this was one of the better hotels in Tobermory ...I could not have been more wrong. The 4 very respected academics that were... more

On arrival the guest house was closed with a notice to call a mobile number for entry. When I did so I was sharply informed that I was trying to check-in outside of check-in hours (between 2 and 6:30) which we had not been advised of in advance. The owner reluctantly returned to let me in and led me to... more

This is a top quality Guest House with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Lounge is better than you find in some hotels and the a la carte choice of breakfast is delicious. The views from the dining room, lounge and most rooms is amazing. We had a wonderful time on this magical island and were pleased to have a... more
