What a lovely place and what lovely people. We had such a fantastic time away in Tobermory - all thanks to the Mackays. The setting is breath taking and I can't stop showing off the beautiful photos of our stay. in particular the views from our balcony. This really is a dream setting and I have never felt more welcome... more

Throughly enjoyed our stay at "Sonas House". The view looking down the Sound of Mull is breath taking, what a location!. Both rooms (we stayed an extra night) were very comfortable and so peaceful and quiet. The breakfasts were exelent and so much choice, a great start to the day. Laura is such a lovely person, a wonderful host. We... more

There are several positive aspects to this property. The location is brilliant. High up on a bluff with a fine view. When the weather is good then the two rooms in the main house have either a balcony or a patio. The rooms are nice but nothing memorable. The real drawback is the lack of public space. There is no... more

Absolutely fantastic! Laura was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome from the very moment we arrived. We Stayed at Sonas House for five nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Breakfast, was, in our opinion the best we had in Scotland, even beating Culloden House which have won numerous awards for theirs. We stayed in the red... more

We have just returned from a 4 night stay with the Mackay family who were excellent hosts. The rooms are finished to a high standard with luxuries like a fridge, CD player and quality toiletries. An added bonus was that you can play a round of golf and then have a dip in the pool. Our experience was so enjoyable... more

We have two nights here and thought the place was great. It is a one minute walk from Tobermory 9 hole which is excellent. the views while playing golf are amazing, can't wait to go back. Back to the accomodation... lovely hostess, very friendly, very well desined new build, including swimming pool. Only 5 minutes walk into the Tobermory pubs/... more

We have just got back from a nights stay in the "Blue Poppy" room. It was one of the best place's that we have stayed. My parents also stayed with us in the "Red Poppy" room they had the ground floor and we had the top floor which had a fabulous view over Tobermory Bay. The rooms had everthing that... more

Can't praise the place enough, great house, great food and great views. We travelled around Scotland for 2 weeks and unfortunately only spent 2 nights in Sonas / Ptarmigan. The Blue Poppy Room was well equipped with huge bed, tv, fridge, and magnificent balcony overlooking the sea. Fine bathroom with big shower and top quality toiletries. The family made us... more

We stayed in Ptarmigan House for our wedding anniversary – what a fab choice! The Mackays have recently taken over the running of the house and are excelling themselves. They were chilled out but still attentive (without being intrusive) and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Thanks for the anniversary treats! We stayed in the Poppy... more

Just returned from a perfect 3-night stay at Ptarmigan House - this has been one of the best B&B's / hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, by our hosts, the MacKays. Although the family had only just moved in to the house and taken over the running of... more
