This place may not be for everyone. The wifi is poor and there are chickens immediately outside the front door. It is a pet friendly establishment that we enjoyed but there are some travelers that may have less appreciation for that environment. However, the restaurant was good, the location presents a down hill walk to town, the staff is very... More

This must have been a beautiful hotel in its heyday! It is a little run down now, but still wonderful. Lovely staff, lovely views of the sea. The breakfasts were great. We had dinner one night in the beautiful dining room. The meal was pretty good. That same evening there was great live music in the bar. The rooms were... More

My wife and I stayed in the third floor Macallan room. Whilst the room decor needs a little updating, the bed was comfortable and the towels large and new. The shower unfortunately was no more than lukewarm, however what a view! From both the room and the bathroom we had excellent views of Tobermory harbour and bay. The full Scottish... More

We recently stayed at the Western Isles Hotel in Tobermory. I had wanted to stay there for some time and was not disappointed. The history is fascinating -- it had been a railway hotel owned by David McBrayne who also founded the Caledonia McBrayne ferry line that is the link to the islands. From the "Welly washer" in the men's... More

We stayed in the macallan room on the third floor which had amazing views and good room but was a bit cold. Staff was pleasant and very helpful and would recommend but ask for a room on the 1st floor. Didn't eat at the restaurant but had breakfast and was really good.

Staying at the Western Isles was like getting a "warm hug from grandma", the room was delightful and spacious (we were in The Balvenie), the breakfast was delicious, and after long days of enjoying the sights of Mull we chose to eat in the restaurant which did not disappoint, great food and great service.

The Western Isles hotel is in a great spot in the beautiful Tobermory. The hotel is old but has a great charm and is very clean. The views are amazing. the internet is poor. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the breakfast is really good. Definitely worth a visit

On a serene isle when time seemed to stand still as you soaked up the beauty of the harbour from your room. The rooms themselves are large and spacious. The staff are only too eager to carry your luggage to your room. Meals were first class and the staff were extremely polite and curtious. This building is 150 years old... More

We stayed at the end of June for 4 nights with our family and friends for our wedding. We had chosen the hotel because of our love of Tobermory. We had been informed that the hotel had no lift and we made the decision for my 'mother in law' who in a wheelchair to stay in a nearby hotel. But... More

The Western Isles was one of the hotels in which travelers in our group were put. Our experience, a total disaster. The Western Isles has a super location, with an excellent view. We were on the top floor (NO LIFTS!). Asked for instructions to work shower, and finally got after a long wait. Instructions should have been in the bathroom.... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. However, your tour leader had previously visited the hotel prior to booking your visit so would have been fully aware that our rooms were located on 3 floors and that we do not have a lift. I apologise for any misunderstanding... More
