Am a bit bemused by all the arrogant, etc comments. I would say that David and Jo were very welcoming, pleasant, chatty and perhaps a little eccentric. But I found that to be part of the charm of this lovely accommodation. The quirkiness and coziness was what made it. It was like staying in someone's house and being treated like... more

When I booked the rooms for myself and friends, I was told that only "small, standard rooms" were available. If the ones we had were small or standard, then I cannot imagine what the larger or more luxurious were like. They were lovely. Chock full of interesting books, furniture and ornaments but not in an over-the-top manner, more like the... more

We stayed at the Highland Cottage for two days on 22 and 23 April 2009 and really enjoyed ourselves. Jo and Dave are really wonderful hosts - nothing is too much trouble. We arrived quite early but were checked in and provided with tea in the guests lounge which has sea views. Our room was immaculate and the bathroom pristine.... more

Highland Cottage is a boutique hotel in the heartland of island bijou. Not understated, not under valued - but a good quality hotel with touches that make it above the rest. It is expensive. But Highland Cottage promotes something special in Scotland - individuality. This hotel is not for corporate style seekers. But for people who search for the unusual... more

We had not read any reviews of the Highland Cottage before booking and had chosen to stay there only because of the details shown on the Internet. We were absolutely delighted by our choice. From the friendly greeting upon our arrival to the moment of our departure we were well treated and, because we stayed for 4 nights, we were... more

When considering a significant birthday we were planning a trip to Florence, our favourite mini break city. However the off season flight departure times were horrendous so opted for Mull instead, perhaps not so famous for its shoe shops! Research and recommendations led us to Highland Cottage. It was with reluctance that we left there after three days having had... more

My partner and I stayed at the Highland Cottage on the basis of some positive reviews on this website. What a disappointment it turned out to be. Location was not great to start with. Afterall the highlight of this town is the waterfront, and it is one heck of a walk up a very steep hill to the hotel. Gratifying... more

No complaints were made to anyone about an unchanged bed!.Would you sleep in someone elses sheets?. I rest my case.

What a wonderful break we have just had in an idyllic setting at the delightful Highland Hotel. We booked some time ago and, therefore, had seen previous review comments; we decided to make up our own minds and we are so glad we did. From the moment we were greeted on our arrival, to the time of our deperture, Jo... more

What can I say about the Highland Cottage?? Actually a huge amount, but very little of it is likely to be positive. We visited the Highland Cottage for dinner while spending a couple of days relaxing on Mull. I had booked ahead presuming it would be busy. We arrived and were sat down in the conservatory, given a drink and... more

We stayed here for three nights, as a bit of a treat for our wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday. Having read some of the reviews, we were not sure what to expect. Well. We arrived a little bit early and were met by Mr and Mrs Currie, who explained that the room wasn't quite ready and they made some... more
