I spent one Saturday night in the hotel with my girlfriend. It was completely empty and the owners prepared the room with 3-4h notice after a phone call. It was a bit chilly at first (really cold weekend, heavy snow in Scotland) but it warmed up soon. Not as warm as I'd want it, but it would have been a... more

I was able to book a room here at the last minute despite it being peak holiday season - I soon found out why. Firstly the approach to the hotel is far from attractive - its more like a caravan site than a hotel. On arrival we were "welcomed" by a surly lady who led us down the dark corridors... more

The Glenforsa hotel has a wonderful setting and spectacular views across the water, the air strip is fun too. The staff are friendly and very willing- food is fine. But its log construction is really showing its age and there is virtually no sound proofing between rooms- the bedrooms are not ones you would wish to spend much time in-... more

The Glenforsa has an awful lot going for it but isn't quite cashing in on its full potential - needs a little money and time spent on it. The location facing the loch is wonderful and the private landing strip provides real character for the place, but the rooms and grounds need some sprucing up and the meals don't quite... more

We stayed at the Glenforsa Hotel for three nights in August having booked just the week before. So we felt fortunate to be able to find somewhere to stay. The location of the hotel is excellent, providing easy access to the rest of the island. The layout and ambience of the bar was good, and the bar menu was very... more

Not quite sure what the previous reviewer was on..... OK, if you want to stay in a plastic, boring hotel then try Edinburgh or Glasgow. However, my wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Glenforsa as much as we did our Honeymoon at the 4 Seasons in San Francisco!! We flew into the very well maintained Glenforsa airfield. The... more

I stayed at the hotel after hearing recomendations about it from friend who had stayed there. It was every bit a beautiful location as I had been told. The hotel owners were very friendly and gave excellent service. The menu was really good with friendly and very attentive staff. Our stay was enjoyed all the more for the interesting array... more

We stayed at Glenforsa over the May Bank holiday, although the hotel was busy, it never harmed the calm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. We found the staff to be very accomodating and the food on offer was excellent, with fresh local ingredients. The room was great, exactly as advertised. It was homely and unique, I've never stayed anywhere... more

Having been persuaded by tripadvisor reviews to stay at the Glenforsa hotel, we were quite looking forward to our stay. Granted we booked last minute, the owners managed to squeeze us in the last double left, a worrying omen. The approach to the hotel is interesting, avoiding potholes and and scrap trailers, are the nighbours scrap dealers? We were greated... more

We were staying in a B&B down the road (excellent, by the way) and in need of a good meal after our long day's walking. The Glenforsa not only provided us with excellent fare, but good hospitality. The waitress was charming. The landlady kindly dropped us home on the first night (with us being too well-quenched to drive) and on... more
